When carmakers released trucks back between the 1940s up to the mid 1970s, they did not think that their trucks would have become far more successful several decades later. Though gearheads with a substantial budget, skills, and patience have been restoring classic trucks for decades, it is not until recently that they started giving classic trucks enough power to obliterate a supercar.

Classic Ford trucks are a dime a dozen. As a result, it is possible to get a hold of one fairly easily, and for a decent price. When modified, these trucks are far from the type of American trucks people would be embarrassed to drive. In fact, these trucks are often cooler than modified modern trucks.

10 Wacky Races

Following the end of World War 2, the US economy was flourishing. Businesses were running strong. The middle class was making up the vast majority of the US population. At the time, automation and self-service were still in their infancy. It was quite normal to have goods such as milk delivered on one's doorstep.

This weird looking F-100 is the sort of trucks gearheads would drive over the new Ford F-150 any day. 9 Stern

Ford trucks are badass. Whoever says the opposite don't know much about trucks. That person might also be the proud owner of a Pontiac Aztek. The latest F-Series is simply gorgeous. However, the classic F-Series trucks are great for classy restomod project.

Given the original look of most classic trucks of the 1970s, it is quite understandable that most gearheads decide to go for the murdered-out style. When looking at this retro F-250, nothing comes to mind but aggressiveness and respect. Though it may not be the best truck to go rock crawling with, it sure can handle rougher trails.

8 Sleek Ranger

The older Ford Rangers are definitely not the first truck that comes to mind when thinking about a project vehicle. Given the amount of amazing trucks American carmakers released over the years, the Ranger sure is not the first choice. With that being said, it is possible to turn the underrated Ford Ranger into a cool ride.

Trucks from the '80s are highly underrated. The vast majority of the time, older trucks are considered for a project. When looking at this slammed '83 Ford Ranger, it is fair to say that the truck has a lot of potential. Though the body of the truck itself did not receive a tremendous amount of work, this Ranger is beyond cool.

7 Chopped & Boosted

Diligently restoring a classic truck can be a daunting task. If finding parts that are truly original is your thing, then good for you. Most gearheads will respect that. A restomodded classic truck equipped with some of the latest performance parts is, well, a lot more thrilling.

This is kind of modified classic trucks petrol heads cannot stop staring at. Its highly sinister look gives this Ford F1 a level of aggressiveness that is commonly found on restomodded classic trucks. The 1951 Ford is fitted with a supercharged 4.6L V8 from a Cobra Terminator. The power is delivered to the back wheels thanks to a T56 six-speed manual transmission.

6 Half & Half

Ford and Chevy released several iconic vehicles, including the Ranchero and the El Camino. Although the El Camino was for more popular than the Ranchero, both vehicles were extremely atypical. They are coupes/ pickups that can be turned into about anything.

Mike's Hemi Ranchero is by definition a monster. The Ranchero, growls, is packed with power, and turns heads. It is unclear whether this mean machine still belongs to Mike, but whoever drives this insane Ranchero must be getting adrenaline rushes every five minutes.

5 King Of The Hill

The newer Ford F-250s are really amazing. They look great, and they are powered by truly astonishing powerplants. They have been lifted, slammed, turned into super trucks. You name it. The older F-250s are a lot more stern. They inspire respect. Classic F-250s embody the idea of an American truck.

This Ford F-250 is the sort of truck that would fit in an updated version of the TV show King Of The Hill. The truck looks like it could belong to a true fan of trucks from the 1970s. Despite being equipped with fancy black rims, this F-250 is not made to remain on a paved road.

4 Grey All Day

Imagine looking into somebody's barn only to find a truck used to deliver goods needed to produce bombs; the same bombs that were dropped on German and Japanese forces. You then decided to restore it, and turn it into a rocket ship. That would be a great story to tell at parties.

Purists beware! This is the sort of trucks that may give you a stroke. The only thing that is classic about this truck is its body. Nicknamed "40 Shades of Grey," this monster is equipped with a Whipple supercharged LS3 V8 that produces 935 hp. This modified Ford truck is one of the craziest restomodded super trucks out there.

3 Super Bronco

The Bronco is technically an SUV. However, several people have transformed their Broncos into a truck. Unlike O.J. Simpson's Bronco, these Broncos have freedom and carelessness written all over them. Older Broncos from the 1960s are worth tons of money nowadays.

Getaway Broncos is well-known for its outstanding packages, so much so that the company became officially licensed by Ford to provide parts for classic Broncos. Needless to say, the company has released some very commendable vehicles. This '66 Bronco looks as if it was simply restored. That is not the case. The tuner offers either a 5.7L Ford V8 or a Coyote V8 in their modded Broncos.

2 Go Big

It is often believed that the 1960s and 1970s did not have trucks as big as a house. In fact, most people tend to think to supersized fast food meals, outrageous college tuition, and trucks as large and powerful as a jumbo jet are very recent. Ford knew which way it was headed since the 1970s.

It is unclear whether this truck received any engine modifications. In fact, this F-350 does not seem to have received an outrageous amount work. The paint and chromes were given a second youth. The wheels are obviously not original, but they fit the truck quite nicely.

At this point, it is fair to assume that the Ford F1 is one of the most popular Ford truck to restomod. Though other trucks such as the F-100 are increasingly popular, the F1 is by definition the best classic Ford truck to turn into a beast. This particular F1 did not fail from getting the treatment it deserves.

It is not every day that gearheads get to see a $500,000 1955 Ford F1. That is right. $500,000. The 5.0L Coyote V8 found under the hood is mated to a 3.2L Kenne Bell Mammoth supercharger, thus bringing the power output to 638 hp at the wheels. The chassis was custom-built and is said to cost around $50,000. The interior of the car is just as impressive and expensive.
