Dodge started producing the Viper in 1991, but the love affair with Viper enthusiasts ended with the decision to stop production in 2017 (notably, there were production breaks in 2007 and also from 2010 to 2012). Nonetheless, that was well over twenty years of great engineering work that saw the birth of some of the most awesome sports car configurations made available in different Viper models and variants.
These include the ACR, GTC, and TA to name a few. Viper also made its mark on racetracks with the GTS-R that participated in prestigious racing events like the Le Mans, 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and others.
Although its production has ended, many enthusiasts are keeping their love for this special sports car alive through modification. As seen here, these modifications have produced some awesomely built and attention-grabbing Vipers.
10 Hennessey's Venom 800
This Viper got the Hennessey treatment, and we couldn’t ignore it… even if we tried. The crux of this modification is underneath the hood, as the Hennessey Performance Engineering team decided to upgrade the Viper’s engine (since Dodge wouldn’t do it) using fuel injectors, intercooler, and a high-flow exhaust system, all in addition to a supercharger that takes the engine from factory’s 645 hp output to an incredible 808 hp with 790 lb-ft of torque.
However, before getting drawn in by its sheer power, the car’s beautiful exterior equally makes heads turn.
9 GeigerCars ACR
Courtesy of GeigerCars, a German car-tuning shop, this Dodge Viper ACR has received some incredible modifications that include a custom-built carbon fiber front splitter, a redesigned rear diffuser, and beautifully crafted forged alloy wheels. This is finished up with an exquisitely applied white paint with double blue lines parting the car into equal halves.
The team wasn’t done, as the car got a great power boost as the Viper’s V10 was modified to produce 765 hp (from its stock 645 hp)through the addition of hydraulic lifters, uprated intake valves, and a free-flowing stainless steel exhaust among others.
8 Brixton Forged ACR
A blacked out Dodge Viper ACR is as irresistible as a car can be; however, the one here also features some other interesting modifications. With the help of Brixton Forged, an aftermarket car tuning shop based in the US, this 2016 black Dodge Viper ACR has been fitted with a modified, extra loud straight-piped exhaust, new crank pulley, and ECU – all these modifications ensure the car has a power output of 651 hp.
For a completely badass look, the car is fitted with 19x10.5 and 19x13 Brixton Forged HS1 Circuit+ 3-piece wheel.
7 Strasse Wheels’ SRT 10
Every little detail on this modified Dodge Viper SRT 10 screams “LOVELY.” It’s the 2009 model of the SRT 10 finished in an immaculate “Viper Race Yellow” paint. This rear-wheel-drive convertible is powered by a 600 hp-producing 8.4 L V10 engine.
However, this SRT 10 made this list more for the incredible modification job done on its wheel by the Strasse Wheels team – the wheel features an SM6R Deep Concave Monoblocks painted in gloss black and custom yellow with a dimension of 19x10 in front and 20x13 at the rear.
6 Hennessey’s Venom 700NM
This beauty is the 2008 Neiman Marcus special edition Hennessey Venom 700. In a partnership involving Neiman Marcus Group, Inc., an American luxury department store in Dallas, and the Hennessey Performance Engineering team, this stock Viper has been collectively upgraded to the VENOM 700NM.
It features special custom kits like the VenomAero Exterior Aerodynamic Upgrades, 19x10 inch front & 20x13 inch rear, and lightweight alloy wheel upgrades. However, the real deal on this jet black beauty is the 700 bhp engine powering it.
5 Bobo’s Rods & Customs' Viper
Bobo’s Rods & Customs, a US-based modification shop has tuned this 2000 Dodge Viper GT-S into an even more terrific high-performance automobile. Now powering the GT-S is a re-programmed and tuned engine that churns out 610 hp as against the stock 500 hp the car came with.
This newfound ability is courtesy of new enhancement features on the engine like the 650Cfm fuel injector, cold air intake, and 700mm throttle intakes among others. It’s finished in a custom green paint.
4 Hennessey's Venom 1000 Twin Turbo SRT
This is one of those incredible modification jobs from Hennessey Performance which they claim to be “the fastest and most powerful limited-edition streetcar in the world.” Based on a Dodge Viper SRT10, the car is now powered by a Venom 1000 twin-turbo engine producing an amazing 1000 hp, which enables it to jump to 62mph from rest in just 2.9 seconds.
On the exterior, it rocks the VenomAero body kit featuring a skew front bumper for better aerodynamics, extended side sills and diffusers, and an extraordinary sporting wing VenomAero Daytona rear spoiler.
3 Force 1 V10
When you co-own an automotive modification shop, then any car you want is just an imagination away. That’s the story behind this Dodge Viper - Based VLF Force 1 V10, as it was built for Henrik Fisker, one of the three founders of the VLF (an American modification shop), by the modification team.
The Force 1 V10’s engine has been tuned to produce 745 hp and 638 lb-ft of torque. This pushes the car from 0-60 mph in just three seconds. Also, the body was completely modified using carbon fiber.
2 Zakspeed's Street-Legal GTS-R
What we have here is an unusual conversion, as this 1998 Viper by Zakspeed Racing has been transformed into a street-legal sports car. The car had won the iconic 1999 24 hours at Nürburgring, and for the transformation, the new owner got the guys at Heurich Classics – a German modification shop for vintage cars – to do the honors.
The car got new passenger seats, while its spoiler was cut off and its rear diffuser removed. Its stock 6.2 L V8 was modified to deliver 600hp before it got finished off in traditional paint.
1 Medusa
Dodge didn’t build a stock Viper roadster, hence, Prefix Performance, an aftermarket automotive shop has taken up the challenge to build the “Medusa.” It's not cheap either, costing as much as $35,000 (and that doesn’t include the cost of the car itself) for the conversion.
However, it’s a beautiful conversion as the Medusa features a neatly built retractable soft top with its tonneau cover fitting perfectly with the Viper’s deck lid. Exclusivity was also on offer with the Medusa as only ten units were built.
