The fact that Dodge is still selling a family SUV with a Supercharged 6.2L V8 is quite ballsy. Add to that the gas-guzzling Charger and Challenger SRTs, and the whole lineup is nothing short of badass. Except for the Hornet, perhaps.
If we’re brutally honest, the Dodge Challenger is our only recommendation for hardcore muscle car enthusiasts. We’ll go as far as to call the Challenger SRT Hellcat the last great muscle car. And since the icon is bidding farewell, this is perhaps your only chance to get in on one.

Freedom Street Garage’s 2022 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Gets A Transformation
FSG’s Hellcat costs over $100,000—$105,855, to be specific. The car has the widebody package, which adds $6,000 to the Hellcat’s $68,000 base price. Comes with the optional $2,000 plus package, giving you ventilated seats and suede inserts.
Additionally, the Hellcat is optioned with the Alcantara package and the SRT logo embroidered on the seats. It also has the near-$2,000 Harman Kardon 18-speaker premium audio and the U-connect 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All told, the car sits at $91,000. But after factoring in the mods, FSG’s Hellcat Widebody rockets past $100,000.
What you find under the hood is a 6.2L supercharged Hemi putting out a whopping 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. However, FSG ran the car on a dyno and found that Dodge undervalued the Hellcat by advertising it at 717 horsepower. In fact, the Challenger Hellcat puts out 748 horsepower at the crank.
In terms of equipment, Dodge offers the Hellcat with Bilstein active suspension, in addition to six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes. The supercharged Hemi sends power to the rear wheels via an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic, with a limited-slip differential thrown in for better traction.
You could’ve ordered a Challenger Hellcat with a 6-speed manual, but 2022 models were strictly an 8-speed torque converter only. While the manual was briefly available for 2023, Dodge has now silently removed the Tremec-sourced unit from the Hellcat’s configurator.
2022 Dodge Challenger Hellcat Has Some Expensive Add-ons
As for the mods, FSG has equipped the Hellcat Widebody with a range of aftermarket parts. The team swapped the stock air intake for a CORSA carbon fiber intake worth $705. Additionally, the Widebody gets a much-needed CORSA cat-back exhaust, a $2,200 item that we'd say was worth it.
But perhaps the most meaningful upgrade to the Hellcat was the Eibach springs. Not only did they improve the stance, but they also helped enhance the handling characteristics. And we know how the Challenger is not a huge fan of quick directional changes. FSG took the Eibach-equipped Challenger Hellcat to Willow Springs and set a lap time of 1 minute 39 seconds.
That’s pretty impressive, given the lowering springs cost just $350. The next bit of kit is possibly the most expensive aftermarket part on this car. FSG swapped the stock wheels and tires for a set of Vossen EVO 5R Monoblock rims. That alone is a $10,000 bill. Furthermore, the team put Goodyear Eagle F1 Tires on all four corners to enhance the traction, which was an issue with the stock Pirelli items. This exercise wasn’t as expensive, with the tire swap amounting to around $1,600.
Previously, FSG pitted the Challenger Hellcat against a Camaro ZL1 in a 1/8-mile drag race. While the Chevy did lead the race early on, the Challenger was eager to catch up, and it would’ve overtaken the Camaro had the race been longer.
If you ever doubted the Hellcat’s purpose, think of this—the speed machine is supplied with a 2.4L supercharger, which is about the size of most mainstream car engines. Numbers make sense only if you’re an absolute track junkie. Nine out of ten people are not hitting the strip every day. So instead of worrying about numbers, try enjoying the experience.
