The Morgan 3 was an awesome and thrilling drive on three wheels. But it had to say goodbye. Now, the company’s rich history with three-wheelers opens the door for Morgan to offer a more modern successor. This new three-wheel successor is the Super 3, which the company designed from the ground up to offer new levels of character, thrills, and adventure.

New Monocoque Structure With Ford’s Three-Cylinder Engine

Unlike Morgan’s previous creations, the Super 3 doesn’t have a wooden substructure. Instead, the Super 3 rests on a bonded aluminum Superformed monocoque platform. This allows for a lighter and more rigid chassis, as well as more interior space with no intrusion. This structure also enhanced safety, with Super 3 already complying with the M1 and Reg. 12 frontal impact standards. As usual, Super 3 has no doors, so occupants need to hop in to get inside.

Now powering the Super 3 is Ford’s 1.5-liter naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine. Mated to the same five-speed manual gearbox found in the Mazda MX-5, this engine can deliver 118 bhp of max output at 6,500 rpm and 110 lb-ft of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. As per Morgan’s estimates, Super 3 can sprint from zero to 62 mph in 7 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph.

Jet Age Inspires Overall Design Of Super 3

The Super 3's design takes inspiration from the jet age, during which function and form started to have a logical relationship. Its front section features the familiar Morgan headlights and horseshoe front grille. Morgan positioned the engine beneath the nose cone to ensure optimal weight distribution and desirable proportion.

The Super 3 also features two rectangular sideblades, which are extremely thin and flat side panels that could efficiently manage inbound airflow through the radiators. Ownes can use these sideblades as a platform for luggage racks and liveries. On the rear, Super 3 features an exposed rib forming a beltline around the vertical midpoint, a cut-off tailpipe design, as well as rear casting clamps housing the fog and reverse lights.

Inside, Super 3 features Morgan’s traditional yet digital dials, a reach- and rake-adjustable steering wheel and a quick-release adjustable pedal box. The interior is completely dust-tight and protected against water splashing. Customers can choose from different seat materials.

Morgan designed Super 3 with a limitless combination of options and accessories. Super 3 is now available to order in the US, with deliveries set later this year. The Super 3 has a £41,995 price in the UK.
