10 1957 CHEVROLET CORVETTE ‘FUEL-INJECTED’ 283/283

In October 2018, a certain 1957 Chevrolet Corvette ‘Fuel-Injected’ 283/283’ made an appearance at the RM Sotheby’s Hershey auctions. 1957 Corvettes are among the most desired by Chevy enthusiasts. 1957 Corvettes are fitted with a larger 283-cu. in. V8 engines that are offered in five variations and an optional “Ramjet” fuel injection – acclaimed to be America’s first mass-produced engines to reach 1 bhp per cubic inch.

This particular one comes with a “Fuelie” 283/283 V8 combined with a T-10 four-speed manual transmission. It’s known to have nobody damage before restoration and was auctioned off for $159,500.

9 1963 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 BIG TANK COUPE “MICKEY THOMPSON’S”

Five 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Big Tank Coupes were specially made by General Motors for renowned car racer and team manager Mickey Thompson in 1962. Of the five, this particular one was personally driven by Mickey. David Burroughs, a Corvette expert confirmed the car's authenticity through research and the car’s documentation.

Also, this car is one of the 63 built N03 Big Tank 1963 Corvette Sting Ray coupes fitted with the RPO Z06 racing option. Restored to its racing standard, this car was sold at lot 1363 for $247,500 at the Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction in 2017.

8 1969 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L88 CONVERTIBLE

A third-generation Corvette, this L88 convertible was custom ordered by its first owner. Bryan Cooper, the second owner of the car bought it in 1977 before selling to a Corvette enthusiast who kept it in storage for over 24 years. In February 2012, Roger Gibson popularly known for vintage car restoration took delivery of the L88 and did a total restoration of the car.

Among other features, the car got back its LeMans blue paint on the exterior and a matching blue interior. It was sold for $577,500 at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auctions in 2016.

7 1953 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE

The Corvette expedition started in 1953 and this is a 1953 Corvette – that explains how special this car is. Apparently, among the first built, this is the 181st of the 300 units built in the first year of its release. Chip Miller, co-founder of Carlisle Event bought the car from its first owner for $5,000 in 1972.

It is so well preserved that it retains most of its original features such as tires, engine, interior, and paint. Miller’s son, Lance, sold the vehicle for $660,000 at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction of 2014.

6 1953 CHEVROLET CORVETTE “003” CONVERTIBLE

Some really special cars added glamour to the Barrett-Jackson’s 35th-anniversary auction event at Scottsdale in 2006 and one of them is this 1953 Chevrolet Corvette “003” convertible – it’s the 3rd of the 300 units built in 1953. Displayed at lot 1311 at the event, this car is known by most Corvette enthusiasts to be the oldest of the 1953 models that are still functional.

This “003” was hand-built, well-researched and properly documented. Incredibly, it has only accumulated less than 340 miles since it was restored in 1990. It was eventually sold for $1,100,000.

5 1963 CHEVROLET CORVETTE COUPE “RONDINE” CONCEPT CAR

Larry Shinoda is widely credited with the design of the 1963 Corvette Coupe – but not this one. Although a 1963 Corvette coupe, this is a one-off model called the “Rondine” Edition and it was built for Chevrolet by the world acclaimed design house Pininfarina as a showpiece for the 1963 Paris Auto Show.

The special sports car is fitted with a 327cid V8 engine that cranks out 360 hp, a 4-speed and uses power brakes. It was preserved at the Pininfarina museum for years before it was sold for $1,760,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in 2008.

4 2019 CHEVROLET C7 CORVETTE - LAST BUILT

The C7 Corvette was introduced in 2013 and Chevy decided to make a spectacle of the last make in its last production year by offering it up for auction at the 2019 Barrett Jackson Northeast auction at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The C7 has many awards to its badge due to its performance – it has a specially built LT1 6.2L Small Block V-8 engine that produces 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The last C7 Corvette is a 2019 Z06 model and it will get black paint. Dan Snyder is the lucky bidder who got it for a whopping $2,700,000.

3 1969 CORVETTE REBEL CONVERTIBLE RACE CAR

A third generational Corvette, the 1969 Chevrolet Rebel Convertible Racecar in comparison to the previous generation has a new interior and body design but the power output remains the same. Only four of these cars were built and of the four, this particular one was acquired new in 1969 by professional racer Or Constanzo.

The Rebel is a race track legend – Constanzo and his racing teammate got some racing glory from the Rebel up till 1971 when other drivers raced it to numerous victories. It was sold for $2,860,000 at the Barrett Jackson auction in 2014.

2 1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L88 CONVERTIBLE

This 1967 Corvette L88 convertible was fortunate enough to be used for what it was built for – racing. Its properly documented history reveals that its first owner was Jim Elmer of Portland Oregon as he bought the car at Lyman Slack Chevrolet and he ensured he got some racing credits from the car before selling it to another racer Rob Robinson.

It got some other owners before it was sold to Buddy and Nova Herin who ensured the car got a proper restoration. It was sold at the 2013 Mecum auction in Dallas in 2013 for $3,400,000.

1 1967 CHEVROLET CORVETTE L88 2 DOOR COUPE

One of the greatest features of this car is its rarity – only 20 of the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 2 door coupe were made. It features the best engine for the 1967 models of Corvettes as the engines do 560 bhp at 6400 rpm using 103-octane racing fuel. To discourage its casual use on the streets, Chevrolet removed its heater and radio.

This Corvette got NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence Award in 2001 for its preservation as it's fitted out just as its original documents specifies. It was sold for $3,850,000 at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction of 2014.
