Many people know Joe Biden for his role as the President of the United States, but many don't know that beyond the presidential speeches and meetings in the Oval Office, Biden is just as much of a gearhead as anyone else in the automotive world. Like many other car enthusiasts, he has a fleet of incredibly amazing cars in his collection that was once quite massive before he became the President.

Updated December 2022: Joe Biden owns a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C2) which is one of the most desirable classic cars out there, and as expected, it fetches a high price today. Notably, its best feature is arguably its engine which is capable of an output of up to 360 hp. While much hasn't changed with this amazing classic car, we’ve updated this article to reflect the vehicle's present value.

Despite his once large collection, only a few cars remain in his possession today. This was inevitable with the presidency. However, of the few that remain, it is clear that his favorite is his 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C2), and reasonably so.

The Corvette Stingray is undoubtedly the most gorgeous car in the president's collection, and here are a few reasons why.

As previously mentioned, Joe Biden is well known for being a politician and President of the United States, but looking beyond that, he liked loud cars just like us enthusiasts. Growing up, his father owned the largest Chevrolet dealership in his state, which inevitably allowed him access to many vehicles.

In 2016, Biden and Jay Leno collaborated and filmed a YouTube video going over his beautiful C2 Stingray. Biden mentioned in the YouTube interview that he had the luxury of a new car for prom every year, which he seemed thrilled about. Senior year, he reminisces the privilege of taking a 7,000-mile Chrysler 300D right off the lot.

Biden also stated in the interview that he "likes speed" and used to "bury the speedo" back when he was younger, even saying that he took the Chevrolet Stingray to 152 miles per hour. To cap it all, Biden even does a little burnout on Leno's YouTube program, showing he still likes to have some fun. Needless to say, Biden's father was a large influence on his keen interest in cars.

Joe Biden’s Collection Features A Gorgeous 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C2)

While being the President of the United States must be awesome, giving up driving for it isn't. The Corvette Stingray lineup is a classic, and this small-block Chevy has been under his ownership since August 1967. Biden received the vehicle as a wedding gift from his father, though the car needed some major repairs.

Thanks to Biden's two sons, the C2 Stingray had a new paint job, and it received a new engine as a Christmas gift some years back, allowing her to purr once again. Biden stated in Leno's interview that he, unfortunately, doesn't get to drive the car much, and driving it on the program makes it the third time he's driven it in seven years.

There was a rumor that the vehicle appeared as a listing on Craigslist weeks before the president-elect's inauguration for $1.2 million, but the ad was quickly taken down and wasn't seen. Upon fulfilling the role as president, the press has confirmed that he still owns the car to this day, and there's speculation that the vehicle is in Delaware.

Biden states that he thinks of his son, Beau, and his father whenever he gets to drive the car. The 1967 Corvette Stingray has been part of his family for a long time, so he definitely has a lot of sentimental value attached to the two-seater.

The 1967 Corvette Stingray was, and still is, a special car featuring a small block 327 that put out a staggering 360 horsepower. While it might be average for today's performance car standards, the C2 Stingray had what modern sports cars lacked - a raw driving experience.

With no traction control, anti-lock braking system, or other advanced technology that aids modern vehicles today, 360 horsepower feels like a lot. Weighing in at just over 3,000 pounds, it could still go from rest to 60 mph in an impressive 4.7 seconds, so the C2 Corvette Stingray wasn't a slouch by any means.

Joe Biden's Stingray was originally bought for $5,600 and features a 4-speed manual transmission. However, due to popular demand among enthusiasts and the push for electric vehicles, market prices have drastically gone up since then. Today, they can run you well over six figures. According to Bring a Trailer, 1967 Corvette Stingrays sell anywhere from $75,000 to upwards of $250,000. That’s nearly a 600% increase in value from their original price of $4,240 (around $38,000 today).

With its smooth body lines, stylish curves, and elegant body style, the C2 Stingray proved to be a timeless classic, and this shows in its high resale value today. Understandably so, we can see why the '67 Corvette Stingray is the president's favorite and proves to be the most gorgeous car in his collection today!
