Mercedes-AMG are no stranger to stuffing heaps of power into some of the most refined luxury cars in the world, this allows them to be class leaders in the production of everything from supercars, to high-powered luxury hot hatches.

It's almost comical how much power Mercedes manage to squeeze out of some of their engines, and this process means you can own something which is a genuine contender on the track, and comfortable and stylish enough for use as a GT car or even a daily driver. Below are the most insane Mercedes-AMG sports cars ever.

10 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition

As a modern rendition of one of the most iconic cars the world has ever seen, the 300SL, the SLS understandably went out with a bang with the GT Final Edition model. Limited to only 350 models, this rendition of the modern classic is perhaps the most collectible modern Mercedes in the world.

Some key features include an impressive V8 engine producing just under 600 hp, and a visually stunning carbon fiber package, including a larger than normal rear spoiler, to give it a slight edge over previous SLS models. These specs mean that the Final Edition SLS GT can reach 0-60 mph in 3.7-seconds, all the way to a top speed of 199 mph.

9 Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG Coupe Edition 1

The first thing you'll notice about the Edition 1 variant of the C63 AMG is it's visually striking decal package and matching wheels, a clue to the less than ordinary nature of this car. Under the hood you'll find a twin turbocharged V8 good for a supercar rivaling 503 hp.

The S model in particular is treated to some extra goodies like an electronically controlled Drexler limited-slip differential, over the mechanical one found in the non-S equivalent, and on the interior, you'll find some yellow detailing to faithfully match the exterior. The unique fact about this car is that it was launched alongside the C63 DTM race car, and as such, has remarkably similar specs, which only adds to its appeal.

8 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series

As quite possibly the most outrageous road going Mercedes car, the AMG GT is the replacement for the beloved SLS, and this model is the best of the best. Don't get it twisted, although the AMG GT Black Series is by all accounts a road going production model, it's most at home on the track.

It's astounding flat plane V8 produces a whopping 720 hp, making it the most powerful production AMG car ever, and the new carbon package and other various AMG tinkerings make it 77-lbs lighter than the AMG GTR. This makes driving the GT Black Series both exciting due to the raw power, but also balanced and composed, with excellent weight distribution to rival even top end models like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

7 Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series

As much as the CLK63 Black Series isn't as raucous as some other cars in this list, from a visual standpoint at least, underneath, there's plenty to get excited about.

Its hardcore feel is best presented by its 7 min 52 second Nürburgring lap time, and this is in part thanks to the wider frame over the regular CLK63 models, and that improved front bumper and rear lip spoiler setup. Lighter wheels as well as some carbon fiber interior fittings also make it lighter than ever, and if that wasn't enough, the AMG team pushed the power output to 507 hp from the standard car's 478 hp power rating.

6 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series

Like the CLK63 AMG, the SL 65 AMG Black Series made everyone rethink what the capabilities of a 2-door coupe really are.

If you thought the specs of the other models were impressive, the SL 65 knocks them out of the park with a 670 hp power output, and a top speed that beats even the SLS AMG GT Final Edition at 200 mph. The interior is much like the standard SL 65 model, but with a few more carbon pieces naturally, and that's where the comparison end, this model even has a new body shell with much wider frame and larger air intakes, and completely omits the retractable roof.

5 Mercedes-Benz E63 S AMG

Excluding a few black touches, the E63 AMG is perhaps more refined from a visual perspective when compared to the other models, but underneath there's enough power to rival even supercars.

While it may not have the low and sporty stance of the Ferrari's and Lamborghini's of the world, the power alone makes up for it completely. The E63 AMG is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 making 604 hp, and as a sports sedan, it still manages to keep a level of interior luxury with capable rear seating and passenger space. The 4-wheel drive system also allows for some excellent grip in the corners and improved acceleration times, certainly worrying for those at BMW.

For those who enjoy true sports car luxury and exceptional punchy sports car performance, the newest AMG SL55 is a perfect blend of both worlds. For 2022, AMG have upped their game with the new range of sports cars, and the sleek and rounded look is something that will hold up for decades.

With a smooth 469 hp V8 and an all-wheel drive system, the SL 55 is the perfect open-top GT cruiser with plenty of storage space for both cargo and passenger, as well as some high-tech features including a cold weather Airscarf feature and a brand-new class leading infotainment MBUX system. The interior luxury rivals anything else in its class to provide something with both drives hard and feels smooth and comfortable in the process.

3 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG

With its distinctive and elegant appearance, the SL63 AMG is one of the best roadsters on the market. The 529 hp 5.5-liter V8 is something to make even muscle cars look weak by comparison, this even includes the bellowing sound this engine produces.

The balanced handling also makes it a dream for track use, but admittedly it's best suited as a long distance sporty GT car with plenty of luxury to match the power, of which there's plenty of. The team at AMG have refined the SL63 AMG with two modes, comfort and sport, and these in turn provide brutal acceleration and a responsive throttle, as well as direct and precise steering in the latter, and a more relaxed and comfortable ride from the former.

2 Mercedes-AMG GT63 S 4-Door

At first glance, the AMG GT63 S 4-Door may appear to be a lumbering luxury vehicle, but naturally, AMG have squeezed enormous power and performance from this 4-door sports sedan. To put into perspective the remarkable level of engineering and power in this car, it manages to match the 0-62 mph time of the McLaren F1.

The twin turbocharged, 4.0-liter 630 hp V8 sets the stage, and the yellow brake calipers and extending rear spoiler are just a few subtle stylish additions to make it clear this is no ordinary sedan. Its coolest feature is the rear-drive-only drift mode, perhaps not one for the faint of heart, and the surprising thing about this model is how responsive and fast it feels, despite its relatively large size and weight. The Mercedes-AMG GT63 S 4-Door is nothing short of monstrous.

1 Mercedes-AMG A45 S

The AMG A45 S may be stretching the boundaries of what it means to be a hatchback, but by definition, a hot hatch is exactly what it is. It may be larger than a GR Yaris, but the interior space on this hatch is class leading, and the level of interior luxury is by far better than anything you'll find in the same category.

Underneath, you'll find an engine producing 415 hp, which allows it to reach 0-60 mph in under 3.9 seconds. This possible future hot hatch classic has the most powerful four-cylinder production engine in the world, and a four-wheel drive system with AMG torque control that separates the electronically controlled clutches within the rear axle, to alter the amount of drive sent to the individual rear wheels.
