In the last 10 years, there has been a swarm of new luxury cars. Customer expectations have really increased and now no manufacturer can get away with cutting corners like they used to do. Quality has become key especially with more prestige brands launching entry-level models that directly rival cars from normal manufacturers.

With the rise of technology, electricity, and customers, luxury cars have only recently started to gain mass popularity, with sales soaring this last decade. Also, the rise of SUVs has completely changed the idea of luxury cars. Here are the top ten most luxurious cars from the last decade.

10 Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII

via Autocar

Let's face it, this is one of the most luxurious cars ever made. The Phantom VIII is in a class of its own compared to other luxury cars and that is mainly to do with how much detail Rolls-Royce put into the Phantom VIII. It takes 2 to 6+ months to build a Phantom depending on the spec. The more personalized it is the longer it takes. Except if you pay a bit more, Rolls-Royce will actually speed up the process of your car. In their eyes, the customer is the main priority.

motor1.com

The Phantom VIII is very similar to the old Phantom VII but there are a few key differences. First is that the new Phantom VIII is AWD and includes rear-wheel steering to help with handling. It features a larger 563hp 6.75 liter V12. It is no slouch with 0-60 times being just over 5 seconds. Here are 15 great cars you can have for the price of one Phantom.

9 Bentley Mulsanne

netcarshow.com

Launched in 2010, and almost spanning a 10-year production the Mulsanne is Bentley's answer to Rolls-Royce. Unlike the Continental, Bentayga, or Flying Spur, the Mulsanne uses an old-school Bentley engine that dates back over 60 years. Under the hood is a 6.75-liter twin-turbo L-series V8 which pushes out 505hp and 752 lb-ft of torque (530hp and 811 lb-ft of torque Speed models).

motor.elpais.com

It is an elegant car and was the last proper British Bentley sharing very few components from other VAG cars. It was a successor to the popular Arnage model and featured the same "B" hood emblem and a similar style grille. It's by far one of the best Bentleys ever made and it is a shame to see the Mulsanne being dropped after almost 10 years.

8 Maybach S560/S650

Unfortunately in 2013, the Maybach name was dropped as a stand-alone brand. However, that did not stop Mercedes from using it as a sub-brand of the W222 S-Class and this is how the S560 and S650 models were born. These cars are both rivals to the likes of the Phantom and Mulsanne, boasting a first-class interior.

Under the hood is either a 463hp 4.0 V8 Biturbo or a 621hp 6.0 V12 Biturbo. It is actually quite a discrete car with many people actually mistaking it for a normal S-Class. You would know what this car is if you knew your cars. Both engines hit 60 in under 5 seconds and both reach a top speed of 155 mph.

7 Range Rover SV Autobiography

The Range Rover is already luxurious enough, but Range Rover decided upon improving this. The likes of Bentley, Mercedes, and Rolls-Royce all had super-expensive luxurious cars tamed for those who like to be chauffeured. Range Rover did not, so they decided upon making the LWB Range Rover a 4-seater making it completely luxurious, then pricing it way over $200,000.

netcarshow.com

The SV Autobiography differentiates from the standard Range Rover by having exclusive double-tone paints and different wheels. Under the hood is a supercharged 5.0 V8 pushing out 542hp originally (upgraded to 557hp) and hits 60 in 4.3 to 4.5 seconds. As we all know though the Range Rover is simply the king of the road.

6 Rolls-Royce Cullinan

Via autozeitung.de

When Rolls-Royce enters the SUV game, just know they will make their own table. The Cullinan has no rivals whatsoever being an SUV in its own class. Based on the Phantom VIII platform, this car takes luxury to a whole new level. It shares the same 563hp 6.75 liter V12 from the Phantom VIII.

motortrend.com

Rolls-Royce is a car manufacturer like no other with strict rules both employees and customers must adhere to. The Cullinan is no different from any other Rolls-Royce as it is made to perfection. Hand-built, no messing around and that is why it is one of the most expensive SUVs out there.

5 Mercedes S65 AMG W222

via www.allcarz.ru

The W221 S65 AMG was a masterpiece, how could it be improved upon? Simple. Make the same car again but in a new body, with a new interior, new technology, and even more power. Under the hood is a 621hp 738 lb-ft of torque 6.0 Biturbo V12. This car accelerates to 60 in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.

thecarchoose.blogspot.com

Many people think AMG cars are hairy-chested and hardcore. Not the S65 though. It's refined, quiet, and when it wants to be extremely powerful. If a dictator was a car it would be an S65 AMG due to all the power it possesses. It actually links back to the old days with the legendary W140 as it is so well-built.

4 BMW M760Li/i

Via AutoNationDrive.com

The BMW M760Li/i is a business express. A very refined car, with heaps of technology. Under the hood lays a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 pushing out 577hp to 602hp (it was decreased in the facelift). Torque was originally 590 lb-ft but was increased to 627 lb-ft in the facelift.

cnet.com

The facelift G11 7-series is one of the most controversial BMWs ever made due to its X7 sized grille. However, its V12 engine was universally loved. Inside it is pure good quality which cuts this car a league above its rivals. It is a sporty car hence the M-lite treatment but all in all it is one luxurious car with heaps of presence.

3 Rolls-Royce Ghost

Based upon the BMW 7-series, the Ghost was the entry-level Rolls-Royce launched in late 2009 with worldwide deliveries starting in 2010. It still is a proper Rolls-Royce despite being based on a 7-series platform. Powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 pushing out 562hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. This car, however, was unlike any other "entry-level" car as it was priced way over $200,000 new.

via motor1.com

Like every Rolls-Royce, the Ghost revolves around the customer. From the paint to the alloys to the wood inside, the whole car is hand-built. It's the more usable Rolls-Royce and is better in cities than the Phantom. It is a lot sportier though with more power and a sleeker body. Some have even been modified to the extreme.

2 Lagonda Taraf

Here is a sedan that costs $1 million. It is relatively unknown as it was only offered to customers who lived in the Middle-East, and they all received exclusive invitations to purchase one. Taraf means ultimate luxury in Arabic and it is easy to see why this hand-built car would be called that.

via MotorAuthority

Based on the much cheaper Rapide, the Taraf housed a 540hp 565 lb-ft of torque 5.9 liter V12 under its hood. The 0-60 took place in 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 195 mph. The Taraf was limited to 120 units and completely handmade. There are only one of these cars in the USA - it's that rare. The rest tend to be in the Middle-East where $1 million is considered as loose change.

1 Maybach G650 Landaulet

Here is probably the weirdest Maybach ever made. Take a G-Class 4x4, make it bigger, then smash a private jet cabin inside and make it a convertible. It was limited to 99 units with one being auctioned off at $1.8 million. LeBron James has one which just shows how much wealth you need to own one of these things.

Powered by a G65 derived 621hp 737 lb-ft of torque Biturbo V12 it hits 60 in 4.9 seconds. Not bad for something the size of a house. New, this thing costs almost $1 million, which shows only the super-wealthy can afford one.
