8 Robbie Maddison & Levi Levallee Jumping The San Diego Bay
On New Year's Eve of 2012, Robbie Maddison and Levi LeVallee performed the death-defying stunt of jumping the San Diego Bay. The jump would have Robbie on his motorcycle and Levi on a snowmobile jump across the 370 ft. bay. Apart from the unbelievably long distance, the leap was made even more challenging by the fog.
Nonetheless, the jump was performed, and new records were set. Robbie cleared a massive 378 ft. while LeVallee jumped a whopping 412 ft, which made this jump one of the best motorcycle stunts ever performed.
7 The “Pipe Dream” Water Stunt By Robbie Maddison
While many might have heard of flying cars taking to the sky, a surfing motorcycle is unheard of, except with Robbie Maddison, one of the most creative stuntmen ever. This is one of his stunts, and it's nothing short of magical. Robbie decided to surf on a motorcycle. And using a modified off-road bike that runs on water skis and propels itself with paddle-sized knobbles on the rear tire, he did the unthinkable.
While at it, the legendary stuntman managed to break three world records; he achieved the fastest speed for a Water Bike by attaining a top speed of 58 mph. He also set a record for the longest water motorcycle ride by hitting 19.8 miles and won the world record for the longest land-to-water jump at 61 ft.
6 The Wall Of Death By Kerri Cameron
The word death should be enough to rattle the bones. The wall of death is one of the scariest places for any rider to ride on, and this story is about its only female rider, Kerri Cameron. Taking on the challenge that began as a job application, she rides the wall of death like a complete pro, which is why this stunt makes it on this list.
What makes the story even more interesting is how Kerri Cameron seamlessly switches from working with horses to riding a motorcycle around a vertical cylinder, which is enough reason to have anyone watching hold their breath.
5 Base Jumping On A Motorcycle By Bradley O’Neal
Base jumping is an extreme feat, and adding a motorcycle to it makes it even more intense. Daredevil Bradley O'Neal performed this stunt with nothing but his Yamaha dirt bike... and a parachute, of course. He scaled an extreme slope before being thrown into the air, where he deployed his parachute just in time to slow his downward trajectory, avoiding hitting the ground somewhat hard.
This stunt didn't require ramps and tall buildings or anything but a man, a motorcycle, natural terrain, and a parachute. Although unfortunately, only one would make it back, and it certainly wasn't the bike.
4 The Motorcycle Flip, The Tightrope, And The Plane
The concept was crazy, but the stunt was even crazier. It's one of the craziest, if not the craziest, motorcycle stunt ever performed. It involved three adrenaline junkies, Jimmy Fitzpatrick of Metal Mulisha fame, tight rope high liner Sketchy Andy Lewis, and aerobatic pilot Melissa Andrzejewski.
The stunt involved flying a stunt plane underneath a tightrope as a motorcycle backflips over both of them in the same time frame. Someone dreamed this stunt and made it a reality. One has to watch this stunt to appreciate its insanity.
3 The Double Backflip By Travis Pastrana
Travis Pastrana has performed some outrageous stunts throughout his career, but his groundbreaking double backflip performed at the 2006 x games is arguably one of his most impressive stunts.
The first thing about the double backflip is that there's just no way to bail out. A stuntman bailing out means going down face first with the motorcycle right behind. One can't even take a second to spot the landing in between flips because if sight is lost, death becomes a reality. Pastrana proceeded to repeat the trick plenty of times since that day.
2 The Ski Jump By Robbie Maddison
Robbie Maddison has got a penchant for motorcycle stunts, and this trick is mind-blowing. Performing this jump while wearing skis is frightening enough, but performing it on a dirt bike is a hundred times more fear-inducing, a thousand times if one has acrophobia.
Robbie Maddison is braver than most, though, and was brave enough to try a ski jump on his dirt bike, accelerating at 71 mph, dropping over 180 ft. down. Although it's one of the scariest stunts, Robbie makes it look easy.
1 The 19 Car Leap By Evel Knievel
Nineteen cars and a motorcycle — no words could describe how amazing this stunt was. Exciting is an understatement. Performed by stuntman Evel Knievel in 1971 on the Ontario Motor Speedway in Southern California, a jump went down as one of the most impressive motorcycle stunts of the 20th century.
The idea was simple. Jump 19 cars arranged side by side, totaling a distance of 129 feet on a Harley-Davidson. Which he courageously did. It was a record that would stand for 27 years.
