I would hope that you never find yourself in the situation where a police officer (or several) are having to race behind you as you rip down the road. Because while the situation may seem appealing in action movies, the reality is definitely something that you never want to be experiencing. At least unless you want to have the realistic outcome at the end of that chase of either getting a significant ticket (and jail time) or perhaps even worse because accidents at high speeds - which a chase would warrant - sometimes have fatal outcomes.

But if you were driving around on one of the motorcycles on our list, you at least would not have to have the experience of police officers chasing after you for very long. Because the amount of speed that these motorcycles get up to is enough to leave anyone in your dust without a second thought. That doesn't mean you should speed by any means, but there is no question that the manufacturers should be pleased with the amount of power they have been able to attain. Though you can imagine it is only a matter of time before someone sees where the current "bar of awesomeness" is and do everything they can to create an even more amazing bike!

Various factors have been considered when compiling the list including highest top speeds - like the Dodge Tomahawk that boasts a ridiculous 350 mph - or going 0-60 in 2.35 seconds, a claim that the Suzuki GSX-R1000 can back up.

These are the 20 motorcycles so fast they could outrun their own shadows (and the cops)

20 BMW K1200S (174 mph)

via pinterest.com

There was absolutely nothing wrong if you are the owner of a BMW K1200 and absolutely love getting to ride around on it.

But BMW thought that perhaps people needed something that had a little more oomph to it, so they went ahead and created the BMW K1200s.

Which has several impressive features that it can claim including the fact that it can go from 0-100 in 3 seconds and then get all the way up to 174 mph. You just better make sure you remember your helmet.

19 Yamaha VMAX (0-60 In 2.5 Seconds)

via egybikers.com

I'd hope that the creators of the Yamaha VMax are not too disappointed that they may have come up short in their aspirations to have the best motorcycle in the world when it comes to their 0-60 time. But they can still say that they are able to get up to that comfortable speed in 2.5 seconds, which is so fast that it may even make you a little bit uncomfortable! Though I'm sure getting up to that speed, that quickly would also be a great way to get a rush of adrenaline.

18 BMW S1000RR (188 mph)

via youtube.com

When the team at BMW were coming together to create the BMW S1000RR, it was to help compete at the Superbike World Championship that was being held in 2009. But just because you may have no interest in ever entering your motorcycle in contests, doesn't mean that it may not give you an extra feeling of coolness if you ever had the good fortune of owning a BMW S1000RR. The 188 mph is definitely an impressive top speed, but BMW also came out with a non-street legal version of the motorcycle named the HP4 Race that also turned heads in 2017.

17 MTT Streetfighter (248.5 mph)

As you start to get to the very top of our list with the #2 entry, you can hopefully confidently say that driving around at this high of a speed isn't something that you would ever try out yourself. Unless you want it to be an ambulance racing after you! Because an accident at 248.5 mph is destined to be awful. Owners of the MTT Streetfighter also have the ability to use various types of gas to help their motorcycle go, but it is advised that diesel is what really gets it going. Though I'm sure any type of gas would probably still leave you feeling impressed. (Source: MotorcycleSpecs).

16 Dodge Tomahawk (350 mph)

via youtube.com

When you think about popular vehicles from the Dodge brand, you may find yourself thinking of some of their amazing cars like the Dodge Viper that is sure to often catch your eye if you see them on the street. But can you imagine your reaction if you saw the fastest motorcycle in the entire world, perhaps better recognized as the Dodge Tomahawk?

At an astonishing 350 mph, there is no question that nobody is keeping up with this.

Not even people who are driving the other motorcycles on this list - if you decide to really push it.

15 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird (180 mph)

via youtube.com

You are never going to be able to travel distances as quickly as a bird. But if you were driving around in the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird, you may very well feel like you are teleporting from one spot to another. Because there is no way you should not be satisfied if you were driving around and managed to get your top speed up to where the motorcycle claims are possible of anywhere from 170-180 mph. Watch out cops, this Honda definitely isn't slowing down for you if the owner doesn't want to.

14 MV Agusta F4 1000R (184 mph)

via motorcyclenews.com

The MV Agusta F4 1000R was not the first mass-produced motorcycle that the company came out with, but actually their 2nd. But you know what they say about second time being the charm! And when the people involved were done with their work and realized their motorcycle could get up to 184 mph, they surely had to know they were coming away with something spectacular. Though there may not be many instances where you find enough space on the road to really get up to that level of speed and still feel comfortable.

13 Yamaha YZF R1 (186 mph)

This is not the only Yamaha motorcycle to make an appearance on our list. As I'm going to drop a small spoiler and let you know that is Yamaha who is responsible for creating one of the fastest motorcycles in the world when it comes to their 0-60 time. But that's not what the Yamaha YZF R1 is boasting about.

Though I'm sure their 0-60 time is definitely nothing to sneeze at when you consider the motorcycle can get up to an amazing top speed of 186 mph.

Something that also indicates that no matter where you are going, you'll probably get their quick.

12 Ducati Panigale R (202 mph)

via drivemag.com

If you were spending some time in Italy, it may only be natural that you want to take some time and enjoy all the amazing scenery that Italy has to offer. Such as going to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa, where you would probably be like any other tourist and take a cheesy photo! But if you were driving around Italy in a Ducati Panigale you may find yourself being more impressed with the Italian motorcycle company than anything else you see in Italy! Though if you are going 202 mph, you may not see much of Italy outside of blurs.

11 Lightning LS (218 mph)

via youtube.com

Just because you may want to drive around on an electric motorcycle, that by no means does not mean you do not have the ability to really find yourself whipping around on the road. It just means that if that is your desired outcome, that the electric bike you want to make sure you are driving around in is the Lightning LS-218 because there is really no other electric motorcycle in the world that can boast the types of speed you get from the LS-218. You know the company is confident in the fact that it can top out at 218 mph, as that is what inspired their name!

10 Ducati Desmosedici RR (9.49 Seconds For 1/4 Mile)

Now I'm going to be straight up, the Ducati Desmosedici RR is not the best motorcycle in the entire world when it comes to their 1/4 mile time. Though if you are curious about that information, another motorcycle on our list from Kawasaki is. But when you consider the Ducati Desmosedici RR can still cover that distance in 9.49 seconds, you can also come to the conclusion that anyone who is on this motorcycle will at least feel like they are sitting on the fastest motorcycle in the entire world.

9 Kawasaki Ninja H2R (222 mph)

via mcnews.com

Kawasaki is one of the most recognized motorcycle companies in the entire world, but sadly for this list, they were unable to crack into the top 3. Though it's not like you would be thinking about how "slow" you are going if you ever got the opportunity to get your butt on the seat of a Kawasaki Ninja H2R. Especially if you were going anywhere near the top speed that it can achieve of 222 mph; which I'm sure is also more than fast enough as far as anyone should be concerned.

8 MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K (227 mph)

via mobsea.com

When the team at MTT was trying to think about what they wanted to call this motorcycle, perhaps they just kept thinking about how super it was. Which means giving it the name the "MTT Turbine Superbike Y2K" was perhaps the most appropriate one that they could think of.

As I am sure there are many things, maybe even 2,000 things, about the motorcycle that will leave the driver feeling very impressed.

While the 227 mph top speed that the motorcycle can get up to is one of them, the 2.5 seconds it takes to go from 0-60 is also enough to surely leave you impressed.

7 Suzuki Hayabusa (248 mph)

via ronayersmotorcycles.com

Suzuki has many incredible motorcycles that I am sure you are not going to be too upset about being able to be given to ride around in if they showed up on your driveway. But the team has truly outdone themselves when it comes to the Suzuki Hayabusa which the company has been improving on since its first release in 1999. The motorcycle boasts being able to get up to 248 mph, as well as going from 0-60 in a shockingly quick 2.6 seconds.

6 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R (9.47 Seconds For 1/4 Mile)

You need to imagine that if a police officer was going to take chase after you, that they would probably only end up doing it for a little while before deciding it was more dangerous to keep chasing you. Especially if you were racing off in a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R that boasts the best 1/4 mile time out of any motorcycle in the entire world of 9.47 seconds. But at least that means nobody would probably blame the officer if they saw you speeding and became discouraged right way.

5 Suzuki GSX-R1000 (0-60 In 2.35 Seconds)

If you are driving around in a car that perhaps is more worthy of being placed in a junkyard than on the road, one of the main reasons you could feel that way is it takes forever for your car to get up to speed. But that would never be the case if you owned the Suzuki GSX-R1000 that can confidently say it has the best 0-60 time in comparison to any other motorcycle. But you have to admit that 2.35 seconds is hard to top and as a result, this Suzuki may be able to boast that claim for the foreseeable future.

4 Laverda Jota: 146 mph

via classic-motorbikes.net

There are many motorcycles on our list that are from some of the biggest companies in the entire world. but that definitely is not the case for this entry, as the company Laverda, is no longer in operation.

After starting out in 1873, the manufacturer was bought up by the brand Piaggio in 2004, and that was it for the brand.

But that doesn't mean the Laverda didn't have a legacy left behind that is well worth you taking some time out of your day to learn about the Laverda Jota that may be the best thing the company ever did, as it prominently topped out between 140-146 mph which is enough to give you a rush.

3 Vincent Black Lightning: 150 mph (In 1949)

via mecum.com

When you first see that the Vincent Black Lightning could "only" top out at 150 mph, you may find yourself becoming a little disappointed. But you need to factor in that when the Vincent Black Lightning was being created, there was not another motorcycle in the world that could claim to be faster. And when you also learn that this motorcycle was created in 1948, you can perhaps understand how much of a buzz must have been around it. Especially because being able to say that your motorcycle is called black lightning is also worth some cool points!

2 Bimota YB6 EXUP: 170 mph (In 1989)

via owensmotoclassics.co.uk

The manufacturer Bimota has not always had a positive streak going for them, as in 1997 several different factors resulted in the company announcing its closure. Which was a far cry from how the world viewed the company in 1989-1990 when they were able to claim that they had created the fastest motorcycle in the world. The motorcycle, a Bimota YB6 EXUP came out to a top speed of 170 mph. And while the company may not be as prominent as say BMW who is responsible for a few entries on our list, Bimota was reopened in 2003. (Source: Wiki).

1 Aprilia RSV 1000R Mille (175 mph)

via autoevolution.com

There are some motorcycle companies on our list that have managed to put out multiple amazing efforts. But in the case of the brand, Aprilia, they only have one motorcycle to have you stare at today. But with their RSV 1000R Mille topping out at 175 mph, you can definitely understand why it would have seemed like a glaring admission to leave it off of a list like this. And who knows, perhaps the amazing features of this particular Aprilia motorcycle will help further motivate the manufacturer to come out with something even more special.
