British comedian Rowan Atkinson, best known as Mr. Bean, is putting a special Mercedes-Benz on auction pretty soon.
The actor, also famous for his role in action thriller comedy Johnny English, is a big car fan and owns quite a few of them.
According to Motor Authority, Classic Cars Auction UK has consigned his 1991 Mercedes -Benz 500E. The car boasts a 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces up to 326 horsepower and was considered to be a beast back in its heyday, with a top speed of 161 mph. It took drivers just 5.5 seconds to hit 62 mph from 0.
The 500E is just one of 29 left-hand drive models to reach the UK before getting a facelift. Atkinson was the car's original owner but is said to have sold it to someone before regretting and purchasing it back. He's had it for the past two years but is now ready to let it go again for good.
Atkinson has more than one Mercedes-Benz 500E in his collection and auctioned one out last year. The comedian also has several performance cars in his garage as he isn't just partial to luxury sedans. He also owns a McLaren F1 - we know that because he's wrecked it a few times - and there are a few Aston Martins about too.
Potential buyers stand the chance of getting this 1991 classic at a knock-down price because there's no reserve set. It also comes with some bragging rights; not many people can say they're driving Mr. Bean's Benz.
From all indications, and from the images we've seen, the sedan has pretty normal locks and isn't protected by a padlock like the popular mini he drives in his films. That has to be a bonus, no?
