The AC Cobra Series 1 EV is gradually approaching production as the model is in its final stages of development. It will be an exact replica of the original AC Cobra sports car, but with an electric drivetrain. And recently the new details have emerged about the AC Cobra Electric Series 1 electric sports car.
What Is Known About AC Cobra Series 1 Electric?
The model will be released in a limited edition of 58 copies in honor of the 58th anniversary of the construction of the first AC Cobra, each of which will cost $189,500. It is worth noting that the price has not changed, although the car has been improved in many aspects compared to previous information.
In addition, it turned out that on a single battery charge, an electric car will drive about 150 miles (it is not specified how the calculations were made), and its weight will be only 1050 kilograms (2,315 lbs).
AC Cobra Series 1 Electric Design And Specifications
AC Cobra Electric Series 1 is made in the style of other Cobras. This includes both interior and exterior. The new car will be offered in four color options: blue, black, white or green.
As for the power plant, information about it appeared a year ago: the AC Cobra Electric Series 1 is equipped with a 230-kilowatt electric motor (313 hp) and batteries with a capacity of 54 kilowatt-hours. And the drive there will be rear-wheel. From zero to 60 mph, the sports car accelerates in approximately four seconds (previously it was reported that it will do this in 6.2 seconds).
In 2020, AC Cars has partnered with Derby-based Falcon Electric to unveil the Series 4 625 hp electric roadster. Inspired by the classic 1962 Cobra, it accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds.
The Cobra can also be ordered with a 2.3-liter Ford Ecoboost or a 6.2-liter V8 from Chevrolet, which develops 588 hp. The revived roadster retained the improved suspension, steering, and brakes, and the body is made of carbon fiber.
In the meantime, the company has already prepared a further strategy for the transition to electric traction. The AC Cobra Series 4 electric model is being developed, which by temperament should become an analog of the top compressor version of the Cobra 378 Superblower MkIV.
