Mugen is a name that resonates with a lot of JDM car fans. It was founded in 1974 by Hirotoshi Honda, the son of the founder of the Honda Motor Company, Soichiro Honda. It means “without limit” and they mostly specialize in performance body kits, sports exhaust, and other various OEM parts for Honda cars. And they gained further fame by powering the Jordan Formula 1 team in the late 1990s and took three Grand Prix wins with the team. Now, Mugen has added their expertise and treatment to the Odyssey, Honda’s well-known minivan.

Minivans Experience Regular Shifts In Popularity

via Mugen

Minivans have seen different trends in popularity over the years, although SUVs have replaced them as the main family car. The Odyssey first appeared in 1994. It is marketed in most of the world and is now in its fifth generation having gone through various iterations and editions. Mugen's website is in all Japanese but we can look at what they provide thanks to some translation, and the company provides plenty of close-up images of the modifications that they have undertaken on the car.

Mugen has gone to town on even small features such as the grille of the Odyssey. There is now a carbon front grille, installed over the top of the standard grille that features a UV cut clear coat finish. That finish itself is also made of dry carbon, and that also features on the finish of the lower front spoiler that has also been fitted. This is better known as the splitter, and it adds a very sporty look to the front of the standard Odyssey.

Additional Rear Spoiler And Side Garnish

While the standard Honda Odyssey does not feature a rear spoiler, the Mugen kit does now include one. The description mentions that this rear spoiler includes a metal Mugen emblem and is made of what is described as “blow-molded” ABS. Further to these additions, some new side garnish has been added to the lower sections of the doors. Mugen says these have been “equipped with a plated garnish that emphasizes its presence.” If you want to have a more comprehensive list of what is available on the Mugen Odyssey, there is a PDF file on the car's product page that provides a full list of the parts, but you will need to use a translation tool unless you speak Japanese.
