The Ford Mustang GT now has an official supercharger kit from Ford Performance with 700 hp.

You might recognize the name on this supercharger kit as the same one that has been making supercharged Mustangs for years. Roush Performance announced way back in 2017 that they’d collab with Ford Performance to bring the current-gen Mustang GT a supercharger kit that could be installed by any qualified technician, with a due date of early 2018.

Early 2018 came and went without any indication from Ford when this supercharger kit would arrive. Then 2019 came around with the big news on the GT500, and it seems likely that Ford decided to postpone the supercharger kit’s availability to convince people that it might be a little easier to get 700 hp from a GT500 than to convert their existing GT.

But now the GT500 is out of the bag, Ford can feel free to unleash their GT supercharger kit upon the world.

The kit includes a 2.65-L TVS supercharger operating at 12 psi and boosting the Mustang GT’s power from 460 horses to 700 hp. Torque is now 610 lb-ft, up from 420.

In addition, the supercharger kit also includes everything you’ll need to prevent your engine from exploding, including a new lower Intake manifold with integral air-to-liquid intercooler, a new electronic throttle body, a new air inlet system, new fuel rails and drive belt, as well as a complete air-to-liquid intercooler system including pump, heat exchanger, and reservoir.

Oh, and new fuel injectors too.

When installed by a Ford or Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)-certified technician, the kit comes with a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty. Do it yourself without the aforementioned certification, and no warranty for you.

The kit only works on 2018 and 2019 Mustang GT, and Ford specifically mentions it won’t work on the Bullitt special edition Mustang. It’s also emissions compliant in all 50 states, so Californian’s needn’t worry about being arrested.
