The LA Auto Show is one of the most notable, well-attended and influential automotive gatherings anywhere in the world. Located in the de facto car capital of the globe, it’s usually the scene for many world and national debuts of significant automobiles. The glitz and glamour of Hollywood as well as LA’s historical influence on car culture provides the perfect backdrop for automotive manufacturers to roll out their latest, most cutting-edge and zaniest cars and concept vehicles. Foregoing the mundane and the ridiculous, we are focusing on 3 significant automobiles that were on display at the show this year:

Although it had already made its world debut, the much-anticipated mid-engined C8 Corvette, in both coupe and convertible form, made a lasting impression on the LA public and journalists alike. The jet fighter looks, amazingly low starting price, and technologically advanced platform have further transformed Chevy’s halo car from extraordinary to world-class.

2 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S

Porsche’s US debut of this all-electric tour de force created plenty of buzz for the automaker. The 4S will join the unfortunately-named Taycan Turbo and Turbo S models to bolster Porsche’s first-ever electric model range, and promises affordable performance (relatively speaking on the affordable part). It packs 522 hp into a package starting at just above $100k.

The somewhat controversial but vitally important electric debutant from Ford enters the field bearing heavy expectations. Carrying the Mustang nameplate into the electric and SUV realm is a huge gamble for Ford, but with the mostly positive initial reviews it seems to have given this capacious pony a fast start right out of the gate.
