It’s time for another fantasy build – all fresh from the Dodge's online build page. This time, I’m going to build my own 2020 Dodge Challenger using the brand’s online configurator. So, here’s the waiver: this is how I want my new Challenger to be!
Octane Red Exterior With Black Hood And Roof
For this build, I’m choosing a 2020 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. In its base version, the Hellcat Redeye Widebody comes with a net price of $78,790, and that already includes a number of charges including tax.
For starters, I had my Hellcat Redeye Widebody wrapped in Octane Red exterior finish for a menacing look. But this seems a bit bland so I opted for the painted satin black graphics package, which added $3,495 to the price.
The standard 20" x 11.0" Carbon Black aluminum wheels and red brake calipers already looks good, so I added the standard 305/35ZR20 all-season performance tires. However, since the Hellcat Redeye is built for speed, I added the available SRT Performance Spoiler ($695). At this point, my Hellcat Redeye is up to $82,980.
Black And Red Interior
Now let’s move the interior of my Hellcat Redeye. To match the Octane Red exterior and satin black paint package, I opted to go for black/demonic red interior colors. This entailed choosing black/demonic red seats ($395), which can’t be optioned unless I opted for the Laguna leather package ($1,795), Plus Package ($1,895) and the Driver Convenience Group package ($1,295).
Well, the added packages are quite tempting too, as they bestow my muscle car with Hellcat Logo Laguna leather seat, premium Laguna door trim panel, ventilated front seats, dark engine-turn interior accents, premium-stitched dash and door panels, as well as High Intensity Discharge headlamps and power multi-function mirrors. Net price at this point: $88,360!
A $90,750 Modern Muscle Car
For some in-cabin technologies, the Uconnect 4C NAV with 8.4-inch display ($795) is quite hard to resist, and so is the Harman Kardon Audio Group with Subwoofer ($1,595).
Dodge offers only two changes to the mechanicals (revised gear axle ratio and engine block heater), but I don’t think I want them. After all, my Hellcat Redeye’s 6.2-liter HEMI supercharged V8 engine – mated to a Torqueflite 8-speed automatic gearbox – is already too much to ask for.
In the end, Dodge says I need at least $90,750 to purchase my new 2020 SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye Widebody. OK, now it's your turn! What would your Challenger look like?
