Adam Savage is probably most well known for his role as one of the hosts of the Discovery Channel series MythBusters. But he also is a massive car fan and loves to tell stories about cars. For Discovery Australia, he has teamed up with renowned designer and builder Laura Kampf and roboticist Simon Giertz to create the ultimate Mad Max Battle-Cars, and then go out and do battle with them and see who built the best battle car.
Each Contender Built Three Very Different Machines
It’s a simple concept. Three cars, three builders, and three days to create them with three targets on them. One on each side of the front bumper and one on the roof of the car. Kampf and Giertz are fierce opponents for Savage and know exactly what they are doing. Kampf has created a post-apocalyptic police cruiser with a battering ram. Giertz meanwhile has created a car with a spikey scorpion time and sidearms that are equally aimed at puncturing tires. What has Savage done? He has created a warthog, with huge tusks and a giant mohawk on the top.

All Three Cars Were Ready For Battle
Despite it being such a tight timeframe, the three cars were all completed and looked pretty epic. Kampf has dubbed hers the Das Kampf Car, with a disc shooter being one of the main weapons. The Ferocious Beast is Giertz cars with spikes everywhere and with close combat weapons and it's terrifying. Savage’s Warthog is perhaps the scariest-looking station wagon you will ever see with its pitching weapon high up. It's quite a dramatic contest, that is well worth a viewing.
The Battle Ends With Giertz Victorious
Kampf loses one target very quickly thanks to Savage who then takes out one on Giertz, while he himself also loses one in the process. Giertz and Savage then lose another one after crashing into each other, before the Scorpion tail works and takes out one of Savage’s tires. The three of them all get down to just their top targets before Giertz eliminates Savage with her high-dangling weapons. In the end, Giertz won after Kampf's engine broke down. For some homemade creations they were pretty epic, and who doesn’t love smashing targets up in some utterly wrecked cars?
