Kyle Larson’s win at Las Vegas came as a shock to many NASCAR fans as he became the fourth different winner in four races, despite the fact that he did not win any of the first 25 races last season. Now that the Vegas race is over, NASCAR fans have their eyes set on the intense series that will take place in Phoenix, a 1-mile track. Most important, the series will feature previous winners such as Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamin, and Ryan Newman. The race will also feature Chase Elliot, the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series championship winner. 25-year-old Elliot who currently belongs to Hendrick Motorsports team and drives a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, will be looking forward to winning the series.

How They Set The Cup Lineup For Phoenix Raceway

A mathematical formula which NASCAR adopted late in the 2020 season, was used to determine the starting lineup for Sunday’s race at Phoenix. NASCAR’s metrics formula for 2021 includes:

  • 35 percent comes from the team owner’s points ranking.
  • 25 percent comes from the driver’s finishing position from the last race.
  • Another 25 percent comes from the car owner’s finishing position from the last race.
  • Finally, the remaining 15 percent comes from the fastest lap from the last race.
