NASCAR, there is nothing more entertaining than watching a bunch of drivers going around an oval over and over and over again. As Ricky Bobby and his dear old daddy used to say "If you aren’t first, you're last." NASCAR drivers put this to heart and go all-out in the race track as they always should, maybe some more than others. We don't blame them though, after all; the point of the race is to finish as fast as they can or at least faster than the other drivers. With this in mind, we can pretty much conclude that the phenomenal people behind the wheels feel right at home when they're moving at breakneck speeds!

At the end of the day when the tracksuits are hung, the stock cars are kept, the crew has gone home, and the drivers have had their nice, long, relaxing shower; what in the world do they drive? Obviously, some still opt to go fast (which is fun but it may be best to keep the spirited driving off public roads).

However, quite a number of the drivers take the more laid back route and just want to cruise their way to wherever they please. Both options have its pros and cons of course but it takes a special kind of person to just switch off the speed monkey in the back of our heads.

Whether they simply like slow cars in particular or they want to keep the high-velocity part of their lives exclusive for NASCAR events, we can learn from these drivers and lift our foot off the pedal for a moment.

25 Joey Logano: 1961 Ford Econoline Van

via glendive sales corp

An old Ford Econoline van is one of the many cars in Joey Logano’s expansive and diverse collection of automobiles as you will see later on so don’t you dare stop reading before you reach the end of this list. His rather fruitful career in NASCAR has unsurprisingly increased the amount of dough he gets every year.

Being a full-blooded gear head, of course, he’ll spend a good chunk of his earnings on cars, automobiles, and – hmmm, 4-wheeled vehicles. Joey put a lot of work into his Econoline, modifying it to his liking and doing whatever he pleases with it.

24 Clint Bowyer: 1934 Chevy Sedan

via hot rod network

Clint Bowyer’s pre-Second World War Chevy is like a look into a bygone era, Bonny and Clyde style. The classic vibe and feel of the car is a major factor as to why he wants to drive this thing every single chance he gets.

Clint could probably turn his Chevy Sedan into a hotrod if he wants. He certainly has the means and the skills to handle whatever curve balls the car will throw him along the way. Picture coming up to a local Starbucks drive-through in this automobile, people would be taking pictures left and right! Well, they are looking at a life-size Hot Wheels car.

23 Tony Stewart: Cadillac Hearse

via topsimages

There apparently is a community of people who prefer to drive around in hearses just for the sake of it. NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart, is a proud owner of a Cadillac Hearse which is weird because it is kind of literally at the other of end of the spectrum compared to the high-powered vehicles he drives at work.

Other owners of hearses go crazy with their cars as well; some are even brave enough to put on some Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements (or RICE as some would call it). What’s interesting is Tony retrofitted his hearse into a party mobile complete with a television and a liquor cabinet.

22 Jimmie Johnson: Chevy Stepside

via pinterest

Jimmie Johnson’s Chevy Stepside looks unassuming at first glance but do not be fooled, he’s made some big stuff to make it more comfortable and easier to live with. As you might have guessed already, he drives his Chevy Stepside on a daily basis, racking up the miles (which we would assume is already quite high given that it was manufactured way back in 1949).

One can see pickup trucks like this one all around the US and the back roads of the old country as Chevy pickups were as common as mosquitos in Asia. Johnson was documented to have said that his Stepside looks old but very comfortable to drive.

21 Danica Patrick: Ford Expedition

via car and driver

Now we’re getting to the modern beater cars of NASCAR drivers starting with Danica Patrick’s Ford Expedition. Do not get us wrong, SUV rides are great for getting groceries, taking the kids to school or soccer practice, and basically just haul everything you want in its cavernous space.

The last line was an exaggeration but you get the point. They do all these wonderful stuff but this begs the question “Can they go fast?” some can but not this one, fast SUVs have been popping up here and there recently.

20 Kyle Busch: Toyota Camry

via motor1

Talk about loyalty – Kyle Busch drives a Toyota Camry in NASCAR events and off the track! The Camry is the epitome of a mundane car, people drive them just to get from point A to point B with the modern features that make our lives comfortable on the road and they rarely break down.

We’re not saying Busch is a boring fellow because he drives a Camry; I mean he has a Lexus LFA in his garage! What’s a Lexus LFA you ask? Well, it’s only the best V10 powered car ever made. His taste is kind of polarized as you might have imagined.

19 Jeff Gordon: Chevy Tahoe

via motoring middle east

In the world of Sports Utility Vehicles, the Chevrolet Tahoe is a viable candidate you are looking for a nice, functional family car that could seat the whole family and still carry a bunch of luggage and other junk.

Among Jeff Gordon’s collection of cars though, the Tahoe is on the slow side of the pack. Well, he knows his cars and his judgment is not something we assume is clouded. Did I forget to mention that his Tahoe is, in fact, a hybrid car? This is an important detail that we should not leave out; save Mother Earth, friends!

18 Matt Kenseth: Lincoln Navigator

via autotrader

It could not get any more comfortable than this. A Lincoln Navigator is a great choice for an SUV that does not get any attention and is incredibly subdued but makes the driver feel special. Granted, it might suffer from reliability issues from time to time but this does not stop Matt Kenseth from driving the heck out of it on a daily basis though!

It has an air of exclusivity and a sensation of individuality on the highway. The ride is great too; you can even barely feel the bumps on the road or hear the tires on the pavement.

17 Carl Edwards: Ford Fusion Hybrid

via groove ford

We have another case of a NASCAR driver’s loyalty knowing absolutely no bounds. Carl Edwards drives a Ford Fusion Hybrid on the track, and guess what – he drives a Fusion Hybrid off it as well. He stirred up some enthusiasts when he once drove the Fusion Hybrid 1445.7 miles on a single tank of gas, that’s just remarkable and unheard of!

When you look at the Fusion, it does not really inspire confidence, does it? Well, it gets the job done and that is all that matters. With his endeavors, other teams might be looking into making their race cars hybrids as well.

16 Vaughn Gittin Jr.: 2004 Ford F-150

via car domain

Vaughn Gittin Jr. is a jack of all trades. He is a NASCAR driver (a rather respectable one at that) and he is a Formula Drift driver as well. One day he will go around an oval at blistering speeds and the next he would be on a rear wheel drive monster pulling off insane skids.

After his two amazing gigs, however, he drives a prosaic F-150. On the highways, he would rather prefer this clunky pickup truck instead of the cars that just spell fun. In fact, he loves the F-150 so much that he even built an F-150 drift car!

15 Ryan Newman: Chevy Parkwood Wagon

via pinterest

Nowadays, you do not see wagons all that much on the roads and highways which is why Ryan Newman feels unique while taking his Chevy Parkwood for a spin to take his children out for some ice cream.

He drives his wagon with pride despite his father’s comments about it being a grandma car. What’s interesting is he bought the car at an auction when he saw his kids were playing around the vehicle. That’s a rather weird way of choosing which car to come home with.

14 Kyle Petty: Toyota Prius

via consumer reports

A widely successful NASCAR driver by the name of Kyle Petty drives a Toyota Prius after his stint driving stock cars. It’s a pretty far cry from the gas-guzzling behemoths he used to have fun in. Although he could have easily just driven a snazzy car like a Corvette or even a ‘Stang, his logic got to him and settled for a nice, reliable hybrid that wouldn’t make him feel guilty every time he stepped on the gas.

Maybe he thought he used up his fair share of fossil fuels in the world...

13 Dale Earnhardt Jr.: 1948 Chevy TK Pickup

via lasma's blog

Dale was documented saying "All the cars I collect are drivers" and "I don't like to have any cars that are too nice to drive." We feel you, Dale. Cars are meant to be driven! They always have been for crying out loud!

Nobody wants to have a chunk of metal just gathering dust in the garage. There’s a fascination on old and run down classic pickup trucks that NASCAR drivers seem to have in common. Dale’s 1948 Chevy truck looks like it’s treating him well too!

12 Bubba Wallace: 2015 Ford F-150

via gunaxin

The modern F-150 rides have seen quite a lot of improvements compared to their predecessors, most people will agree on that. Bubba Wallace’s choice for NASCAR events is his trusty No. 6 Ford Mustang but his choice for daily drives and for going out and about is his Ford pickup truck of course!

In recent years, Wallace has changed teams from Ford to Chevrolet so he might be swapping that old F-150 for an arguably better Chevy Silverado. One might think that there is nothing more patriotic than a big pickup truck and some stock car racing and they are absolutely spot on.

11 Chase Elliot: 2015 Chevy Silverado

via car pro usa

We brushed up on this truck just now so you know it was coming. Chase Elliot is a remarkable driver having won the National Series Championship in NASCAR as a rookie, no less. With all that street cred, he is surely gonna buy something fast and eye-catching like a sweet Lambo or a Ferrari but that never happened.

He actually would prefer a full-sized Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck; nothing can beat the utility and reliability of a tried and tested truck. After all, the 2015 Silverado did have some nice reviews and it was well received by fans and critics alike.

10 Daniel Suarez: Toyota Camry

via consumer reports

It seems that joining NASCAR was one of the best financial decisions Toyota has ever made! Having a couple of Toyota Camry’s in NASCAR is a great way to market the vehicle.

Millions of people watch stock car racing and when a certain car wins, you can bet a pretty penny that the model won would be selling like hot cakes the next day or as soon as dealerships open their doors. With that said, the Camry really is a great all-around vehicle with amazing features; Daniel Suarez will vouch for that.

9 Kevin Harvick: Classic 55 Chevy

via lehigh valley live

Aside from updated suspension parts and a brand new carburetor, Kevin Harvick kept his Classic Chevrolet as stock as he can. The reason why he loves this car so much is that his dad used to have one and they worked on it but later sold the car.

His 55 Chevy is not the exact one they used to own but it’s nice to have something similar to just remember the fun times of building a car together with someone. This car would fit perfectly into a retro-themed restaurant without a doubt.

8 Joey Logano: 2004 Ford Thunderbird

via john l sullivan

The reincarnation of the wildly classic Ford Thunderbird did not have the reception Ford executives thought it would. Enthusiasts and normies alike were going at the T-Bird without even catching their breath; talk about roasting a car, what’s funny is it’s a thunderBIRD – get it?

Joey and his wife are unfazed by all the negative reviews the 2004 Thunderbird has because it holds a deep and special place in their lives and here’s why. Apparently, Joey proposed to her with her dream car, a Ford Thunderbird.

7 Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Chevy S10

via hemmings motor news

Dale’s Chevrolet S10 pickup truck is one of the beater cars that he absolutely loves driving. His collection contains quite a diverse selection of automobiles with different flavors; he has posh cars that make him feel like a king, a few muscles cars that could shred the tires off his rims at the drag strip, but a car collection would never be complete without a few boring beaters like his Chevy truck.

Dale’s a sucker for his sentiments; he bought his S10 because he had one just like it when he was younger.

6 Jimmie Johnson: Chevy Volt

via edmunds

The future of the automobile industry is in the electric vehicle market, all of us are starting to realize this undeniable fact. Jimmie Johnson and his team do their best to prove this fact by racing his Chevrolet Volt the best he can.

He drives a Volt on and off the track, staying loyal to his squad and his supporters. Dear old Jimmie even got a chance to take a look at the factory to get the first-hand experience on how Chevrolet puts together his beloved Volt.
