Big boys don't always play with big toys. Sometimes little toys get the best of us, especially when we can relate to them. Disney and Pixar have kicked off "Cars Week" with a little bit of action, as it perfectly lines up with NASCAR's season opener in Daytona. Raring for some action, Disney, Pixar, NASCAR, and Mattel have collaborated to create new die-cast vehicles inspired by the stock car racing's top drivers.

When Famous Racing Drivers Become Cars

In the world of Cars (yes, the animated movie), several characters are inspired or played by real racing personalities. Michael Schumacher appeared as a 2004 Ferrari F430 sports car while Mario Andretti had some screen time as a 1967 Holman Moody Ford Fairlane. Both are racing icons deserving to have their own anthropomorphic vehicle characters.

But in the new era of motorsport racing (especially in the United States), NASCAR races are being dominated by a new breed and generation of drivers. Avid NASCAR fans have surely heard the names of Chase Elliott, Austin Dillon, and William Byron. Elliott is the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Champion while Dillon was a Daytona 500 winner. Byron, on the other hand, is a force to reckon with in the Cup Series.

Because of their apparent popularity with both young and young at heart NASCAR fans, Elliott, Dillon and Byron have been baptized into the world of Cars, as represented by their own anthropomorphic racers in 1:55-scale die-cast singles. Elliott is represented by the #9 "Chase Racelott" while Dillon is embodied by #3 "Carstin 'Ace' Dillon." On the other hand, Byron is #24 "William Byrev."
