The NBA season and March Madness might be suspended indefinitely or canceled, but that doesn't mean that basketball players have stopped making the news. While much of the country is under self-quarantine and practicing social distancing, one retired hoops star had to call upon another to help solve a sticky situation. Former point guard Deron Williams took to social media to post a hilarious video featuring Dallas Mavericks superstar Dirk Nowitzki, who got his custom minivan stuck in the mud.

Good Work, Dirk

Dirk Nowitzki played for the Dallas Mavericks for a shocking 21 seasons, a tenure that has stood atop the charts since the German player retired in 2019. But in 2020, the seven-footer has gotten himself into a little pickle that required him to recall his days in the league, when teamwork made the dream work. Nowitzki was driving his custom Mercedes-Benz Metris van—a necessity for the lanky athlete given his size—when he got it bogged down in some mud. Knowing his former teammate Deron Williams drove a Dodge Ram truck, Dirk sent a couple of desperate texts asking for a tow.

Perhaps Nowitzki was trying to get away from all the humans infected with coronavirus, or maybe he was suffering from some cabin fever without the ability to watch live basketball on the TV—either way, it's a good thing Williams had his truck at the ready, otherwise Dirk would be making the long trek home on foot (or risk calling a tow truck driver). Luckily for the rest of the world, Williams captured the moment in a clip he posted to Instagram, showing Nowitski wiping his muddy shoes on the muddy tires of his van while the Ram pickup's towing hitch (the real star of the show) lurks nearby.
