NBA players with all the right stuff have no problems turning hardwood into gold. And it's what they do with that bullion that attracts a lot more than sports fans, gearheads included. A classic example is Washington Wizards point guard John Wall seen on a Tuesday Instagram post with his stunning red and black Maybach S650, a classy sports car from Mercedes.

Customized Maybach S650

There's something about a Mercedes-Benz car that seems to attract athletes. Lakers great LeBron James owns a G650 Landaulet truck and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather recently bought a G63 for his daughter.

But because Wall's an original, he didn't take his S650 as-is. He headed off to Dreamworks Motorsports—a company that specializes in customizing rides for pro sports celebs—and had the exterior blacked out, added custom logos and added window tint.

A V12 And Dynamic Select Features

Thankfully, Wall didn't have to tinker with the really good stuff about this Mercedes. The latest Maybach S650, which goes for at least $247,000, can carry five passengers luxuriating in the leather interior. It also has a dynamic select program enabling the driver to customize a driver's preferences regarding shifting, steering and throttle. Also included is an environmentally-conscious start-stop system that automatically shuts off the engine when idle.

Then there's the power of a six-liter, bi-turbo V12 engine generating 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. This is a sedan that can hit 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and rev up to 5,000 rpm. Also making this a must-ride experience is its electronic seven-speed automatic transmission that can go from cruise mode to flat-out acceleration almost instantaneously.

It'll Go With His Camoed G550

Wall's Maybach will likely be an auspicious garage-mate with his Mercedes G550 four-by-four, which the five-time all-star had camoed. But those two luxury rides will also be jockeying for space with what's in the basketball star's mounting collection that includes a Bentley GT, Bentley Flying Spur, Rolls-Royce Wraith, Ferrari 458 Spider, and Porsche Panamera.
