For those shoppers out there looking to buy a new fully electric pickup truck, we live in very exciting times. We have gone from no high-performance electric pickups on the market to a whole range of very high-performing options. These are coming from both the established car manufacturers, such as Ford and General Motors, and from startups, like Rivian and Lordstown.

Many of these trucks can directly compete with their gasoline-powered cousins and are assuring in a new age as the automobile industry picks up pace and switches over to fully electric.

Here are eight fully electric pickup trucks expected to hit the market in 2021 and 2022.

8 Cybertruck - 2021

The much anticipated Tesla Cybertruck is soon to hit the market. This revolutionary new pickup truck was one of the first high-performance electric pickup trucks to be announced. The Cybertruck will be coming in three editions; the Single Motor, the Dual Motor, and the Tri Motor. These editions offer a range of performances.

While the Single Motor manages to get around 250 miles on a single charge — quite typical for the industry. The Tri Motor gets a whopping 500 miles — easily the industry best. In addition, the Tri Motor is unbeaten with 14,000lbs of towing capacity. Tesla says the Cybertruck is scheduled to enter production in the latter half of 2021.

7 Rivian R1T - 2021

Another new start-up company, Rivian, is soon to launch its all-new Rivian R1T with a special emphasis on off-road performance. The R1T gets a respectable 300 miles on a charge and even comes with a Level 3 Autonomous system.

The Rivian R1T is likely to be a direct competitor of the upcoming Hummer EV — which has also been optimized for off-road performance. The R1T will be a pricey but high-performing fully electric pickup truck with an SUV option. Now backed by Amazon, Rivian seems to be all set. Production has seen some setbacks due to Covid-19, so those who preordered their trucks can probably expect to get their hands on them early 2022.

6 Lordstown Endurance - 2021

The new startup Lordstown's Endurance is positioning itself more towards the more affordable end of the electric pickup market spectrum. At a starting base price of $52,500, it will be one of the cheapest fully electric pickups on the market.

The Endurance performs respectably across the board with a very high safety rating, a 250-mile range, and a 7,500lb towing capacity. GM currently owns 7.5 million shares in Lordstown Motors, which is a small stake of less than 5%. However, it makes sense that GM might eventually use the Lordstown platform for their own vehicles.

5 Bollinger B2 - 2021

The Bollinger B2 is the most expensive of all the upcoming electric pickup trucks setting you back some $125,000. The high price tag is difficult to fathom given that its 200-mile range and 7,500lb towing capacity together with its 5,000lb payload is certainly not the best in any category on this list of upcoming pickups.

The Bollinger B2 has 20 inches of ground clearance and a 4.5 second 0-60 mile per hour acceleration. It remains to be seen how they are planning to justify such a high price tag. Maybe the Bollinger B2 has some undisclosed secrets that will make it mental as! Production and delivery are expected later in 2021, but it remains to be seen as Covid-19 is still wreaking havoc on the car industry.

4 Hummer EV - 2021

General Motors is resurrecting its deceased Hummer nameplate. The Hummer was the poster child of gas-guzzling and was killed off by the slump in the Great Recession. Now it's ready to be reborn as a zero-emissions fully electric off-roading vehicle.

The Hummer EV will have a range of around 350 miles and a towing capacity of around 11,000lbs. General Motors is fitting the Hummer EV with a range of features and systems to make it perform even better off-road. It has an impressive acceleration of 0-60mhp in only 3.0 seconds to boot. The first electric Hummer to go up for sale will be the fully-equipped $112,595 Edition 1. This will be the only model available when the Hummer first arrives, and every Edition 1 will be painted white and identically equipped.

3 Chevrolet Silverado Electric Pickup - 2022?

General Motors isn't happy just to enter the market with its Hummer EV, it is also going to start converting its Silverado's. We know it will be based on General Motors' Ultium platform and have a range of up to 450 miles - making it second only to the Cybertruck Tri Motor.

Initially, General Motors wasn't planning for production until 2025, but with the rapidly changing environment, GM has greatly accelerated those plans. The Silverado EV is now expected to debut as a 2023 model and go on sale in early 2024. Prices will most likely start at $50,000 for the base-model work truck.

2 Ford F150 - 2022

Finally, American's most popular series of pickup trucks for decades now is about to enter the fully electric market. Ford is now coming with its mighty F-series and about to make a splash with its iconic F-150. Time will tell if the country's most popular vehicle will prove just as popular as an all electric vehicle.

Ford announced its electric truck with the caption, "An electric vehicle that’s Built Ford Tough? You bet. Watch the prototype tow more than 1 million pounds." Ford estimates it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, which makes it quicker than the Raptor model. Prices will start around $41,000, and that's before incentives.

1 Nikola Badger - ?

Niklola is an interesting company that is heavily invested in hydrogen fuel cell technology. But in addition to that, it is also investing in electric vehicles as well. Although the Badger may also be available as a hybrid battery-electric/fuel cell version too. Or at least that was the plan.

Nikola had been planning to produce a pickup with up to 600 miles of range and an acceleration of 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. But after its agreement with GM fell through this is now in doubt. Instead, Niklola may be sticking with its hydrogen semis, which means the Badger might be nothing more than vaporware at this point.

In summary, in a matter of months, we will go from no fully electric pickup trucks on the market, to a market awash with them.
