The Godzilla, or the Nissan GT-R, is back in a new avatar, just when the world thought it was the end for the supercar slayer from Japan. To Nissan, the GT-R has always been the best when it comes to thrill combined with the best engineering.

The Nissan R35 GT-R has always impressed with its handling, powerful engine, and technology, making it a great everyday sports car. The big-winged Porsche 911 GT3 is probably the closest in terms of practicality.

Nissan has given GT-R enthusiasts one last chance to blow up their money on what continues to be one of the best sports cars on the market that still slays supercars. The 2024 model has been maxed out in terms of performance, and that means its V6 engine has no more juice left in it.

The 2024 Nissan GT-R will be available in three grades: GT-R Premium and T-spec with 565hp, while the GT-R NISMO raises the bar to 600 hp, making it a bully of a supercar. However, power remains the same. The GT-R is also set to give the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS nightmares. The newest Nissan GT-R is the best it will ever be.

The stunning supercar from Nissan has never disappointed when it came to looks. Despite having been around for so long, Nissan has managed to play it safe with the design language - and by that, we mean sticking to the same overall shape, with bits added for better aerodynamics.

Every grade on the new Nissan GT-R receives exterior enhancements, and this has all been done to ensure it slays other supercars on drag strips once again. The car’s bodywork has revised design elements that improve downforce and bring down drag to a good extent because this is going to help it be the best version of itself.

The new design is refreshingly new but familiar. Some of us may argue saying the very first GT-R R35 looked the best, but this new look is far from being unlikeable. The GT-R wears a new look up-ahead; the bumper looks so much smoother and rounded. The grille is new, and so are the rear wings on both the GT-R and its NISMO derivative.

The design team has gone through the car extensively, right to the finest of details - like the mesh in the front grille that is now thinner: this helps in terms of better cooling. The interesting part is - the car’s drag coefficient remains the same at 0.26 Cd, despite downforce having increased.

The GT-R NISMO is the go-to model for more extreme looks and performance. The new rear wing adds drama to the design; it looks angrier than the regular GT-R. It even has swan-neck-like supports, just like the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

The wing has been designed to give the best results in terms of optimizing drag and downforce. Plus, there’s a front lip, canards, and a rear diffuser. This beast will look more at home on the Nurburgring than on a street.

The dashboard is covered in Nappa leather, and seats look lightweight the moment you set eyes on them. Opting for the GT-R T-spec gives you dark Mori Green upholstery with a mix of a semi-aniline and suede finish for the seats up-front. The other elements that help you identify the T-spec model are the logos and kick plates. Features include heated front seats, active noise cancelation, and more.

Mercedes-AMG isn’t the only performance car brand that makes hand-built engines, because Nissan does too, for its GT-R. It’s powered by a 3.8-liter V6, 24-valve twin-turbo engine that’s put together by Takumi technicians. It produces 565hp and 467 lb-ft of torque, while the titanium exhaust system is what will be making all the noise. But knowing GT-R owners, the stock exhausts won’t stay on for too long.

All that power is sent to all four wheels through a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. We think a 6-speed ‘box is a bit dated, given how everything in the modern supercar club starts with a 7-speed transmission.

There continue to be paddle-shifters for the driver that knows his onions from his beetroots, and the aggressive downshifts are here to stay. The Bilstein DampTronic shock absorbers allow the driver to adjust the suspension settings in three modes: Normal, Comfort, and R. The controls can be accessed via the switches on the center console.

The wheels are new: lightweight 20-inch ones wrapped in Dunlop high-performance tires. The 2024 GT-R T-spec gets the bigger carbon-ceramic rotors from the NISMO version, plus NISMO’s RAYS wheels, painted in gold.
