The new 2023 C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is getting a lot of interest on the internet as of late. Whether it is destroying some of the best Italian supercars, or taking down a few of the best sports cars from Germany, the new Z06 continues to impress.

However, let's not forget about the base model C8 Corvette. It still packs a heck of a performance bargain (if you can get one at MSRP) for the money. In a recent video by the YouTube channel Tedward, he takes the 2023 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Convertible Z51 on a POV night drive and gives his thoughts on this highly impressive sports car.

About This 2023 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Convertible Z51

Tedward starts the video by discussing the specs of the review car. It's a brand new 2023 C8 Corvette Convertible with the popular 3LT package trim. This includes everything from the 2LT trim but adds a custom leather wrapper interior, suede microfiber trim, and wonderful GT2 bucket seats. This particular example in white is also the 70th Anniversary edition.

Not only that but at first glance, the C8 Convertible with its folding hard top looks almost identical to the coupe variant. Although Tedward lives in the North Eastern US, the Corvette is on snow tires. This should give him ample traction even though the weather seems to be fairly modest.

The base model Corvette has a 6.2-liter V8 engine with 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque and should give a sub-3-second 0-60 time even with the additional weight of the hard top convertible.

Upon startup, the Corvette's sport exhaust roars to life. While it doesn't sound as good as the new Z06, the base model has an impressive engine and exhaust note. Tedward states the car "makes some really incredible noises, it's shocking". Tedward does a quick acceleration run and remarks on how well the car puts the power down even in cold weather.

In addition to the exhaust note, the dual-clutch transmission is extremely fast shifting. Due to having 8 speeds, it also sits around 1,800 rpm at 75 mph on the highway. This allows it to get 24 MPG, impressive for a sports car with nearly 500 hp.

Although he doesn't get too crazy during the video with crazy acceleration, the POV drive gives a real-world example of how the car would feel on a day to basis.

The new Corvette in convertible trim just shows that you can enjoy a comfortable sports car even in the winter. Tedward ends the video perfectly by parking next to another white Corvette, a C3 generation.
