What do JDM and Germans have in common? Turbos! And when it comes to pushing the envelope with an engineering first mentality, AMS Performance has claimed the throne. With its sister company Alpha Performance, AMS Performance is one of the biggest names when it comes to shattering records and building the fastest JDM and German turbocharged race cars.

On a video released through their YouTube Channel AMS Performance, they featured one of their recent builds. A 2014 Nissan GTR R35 owned by Angela Volk, a good friend of Brooke Berini @Brookeberini, who'd come in for an AWD Controller and fuel pressure sensor, among other AMS Performance components fits.

Angela’s 2014 R35 GTR mod list

Angela’s R35 GTR is a mean-looking black road hog that, in her own words, on her Instagram page, will be “sending people to gapplebees and hurt some grown men’s feelings.”

Don’t get it wrong, this 2014 R35 might have stock turbos, but it packs some serious boost. AMS did a full-bolt-on build, installing an AMS Performance Alpha 7 Kit along with an AMS Spec FMIC (Front Mount Intercooler) as well as other goodies.

AMS had initially installed their custom cast downpipes and 90mm Y Race mid-pipe, which are some of the best in the industry. The R35 also got a drag racing setup, including an AMS Race X with a single beadlock. Since tires are known to spin under massive torque, AMS’s setup features self-tapping screws provided by BelaK, as a kit.

AMS Performance put Angela’s R35 on the Dyno, and it didn’t disappoint. After a few pulls on the Dyno, the 2014 R35 pulled an impressive 685WHP on the Alpha 7 Build with stock turbos. The Nissan GTR was not nicknamed ‘Godzilla’ for no reason, it’s one of the best cars out of Japan, and in the U.S, it acquired another badge of honor, “Supercar Killer.”

A stock R35 GTR out of the factory makes roughly 545 hp and 463 lb-ft of torque and can do 0-60 mph in 3 seconds. It packs a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine with an all-wheel-drive system. The 2014 Nissan GTR doesn’t come cheap, with a starting retail price of $99,590.

After showcasing Angela’s GTR, AMS performance had a chat with Ricky about some cutaways turbos they partnered with Garret. They designed an impressive stand they will use to display the turbos at future events.

Angela’s R35 isn’t the only car featured on AMS Performance. They have done many builds that have won accolades both on the streets and on the drag strip. Their A1 approach to automotive engineering has paid off and shows on their impressive build on this 2014 R35 GTR.
