Today is the day so many fans have been waiting for as Nissan finally unveiled the Z Proto, their vision for the upcoming 400Z sports car. Fifty years since the very first version of the Z car, the Z Proto is meant to demonstrate a clear and nearly production-quality sample of what the 400z will be once released to the public. Rumors have been flying for some time and aside from knowing it would come with a manual transmission, and have some design cues that would harken back to Zs of old, it was tough to know what we'd get today. If today's presentation is anything to go on, Nissan has a future hit on their hands.

While the Z Proto styling is reminiscent of every generation of the Z, it's a massive step forward for the brand overall. The interior is as modern as it gets and the overall dimensions of the car lend themselves well not just to the past but also to modern driving dynamics. This vehicle is a massive part of the future of Nissan. It's meant to imbue the rest of the lineup with hints of its DNA. In line with that, they are in fact using a twin-turbocharged V6 to make sure that it hits all the high notes for drivers. We can't wait to drive it!
