Every day or every hour begins with more drag races, in the form of interesting videos over on YouTube, today’s race being courtesy of the Wheels channel.

This particular video features three different sports cars against just one familiar protagonist: a Ford Mustang GT – in what we have to say – is an awesome wrap or paint job, white with red paint splatters.

We’re unsure if the red paint is purposefully made to look like blood, but the muscle car is definitely quick in these short quarter-mile races up the strip.

All but one of these cars are homemade American classics, so let's see how the Mustang does against its brethren.

The Ford Mustang GT Is Raw, Quick, And Distinctive On The Track

The cars, on the whole, do not look modified, and here at Bandimere Speedway, which is one mile above sea level, the cars will struggle to make more than 90% of the usual horsepower because of the thinner air.

First up against our protagonist the Mustang – which is running at least a 5-liter V8 with 430 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque (it’s not clear if it’s modified to make more power) – is a black Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

That car as standard makes 640 hp and 600 lb-ft from its 6.2-liter supercharged V8, which, along with its supposed weight saving over the Mustang, should make it quicker.

It is. After a clean pull away at the green light, the Corvette pulls away and maintains a lead up to the trap, winning, and the times flash up: 10:73 for the Corvette and 12:21 for the Mustang, with a final speed of 132 mph and 116 mph respectively.

Next up at the Colorado drag strip is another black Chevrolet: a Z28 Camaro, and in standard form this car has an LS7 V8 which should be good for more than 500 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The numbers are more in line with the Ford Mustang here.

This time the Mustang pulls away first and out-accelerates the Camaro, pulling out a lead all the way to the trap and wins, but interestingly, they both finish at 111 mph, with just over a second between the two meaning the Camaro might have had a chance in the upper echelons of speed.

The surprise comes at the end, with what looks like a modified BMW E60 M5, originally good for around 500 hp and 385-lb-ft of torque from that mighty V10 engine.

Off-the-line speed is good from the German rival, but American power trumps again, with the Ford reaching the quarter-mile in 12:58 at 114 mph versus 13:66 at 106 mph for the BMW.
