Ever since it launched, the Tesla Model S Performance with Cheetah Stance has been frequenting drag strips. But can this car's most dynamic iteration so far outpace a true European sports car like a Ferrari F8 Tributo? DragTimes thought the fastest way to find out was to have these two super-quick cars duke it out on the quarter mile.

Beautiful Road Monster

On one side of the strip is a Ferrari F8 Tributo in elegant Rosso Corsa finish. The F8 Tributo made its debut this year with more aggressive aerodynamics than the model it replaced (488). But it's not just about menacingly beautiful looks, it's also about superior quickness and speed.

Core to its dynamics is a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V-8 engine delivering 710 hp of output and 569 lb-ft of peak torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed DCT. It can sprint from nil to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and to a quarter-mile in 10.2 seconds. This 3,450-lbs F8 Tributo was all-stock with no modifications.

Aching to dash on the other side is a Tesla Model S Performance (Raven) with Cheetah Stance. Sitting on top of the Model S food chain, it has the capability to outrun any conventional sports car thanks to the Cheetah Stance. This stance lifts the rear and lowers the front, allowing the Model S to launch with full power.

This Tesla Model S features a dual-motor setup sending 588 hp of output and 920 lb-ft of instant torque to all wheels. Thanks to this electrifying configuration, this 4,900-lb Tesla Model S can zoom from nil to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and to a quarter mile in 10.4 seconds.

In each of three rounds, the Model S initially outpaced the Ferrari F8 Tributo. With massive torque sent instantly to the wheels, the Model S always had the initial advantage.

But as they continued to the quarter mile, the output and weight advantages of the F8 Tributo showed up. The Ferrari started to outrun the Tesla, and finished the quarter mile constantly at 10.2 seconds. The Model S had the quickest quarter-mile time of 10.4 seconds.
