The 2022 Maserati MC20 is no slouch from the factory. The $217,000 exotic car boasts a respectable 621 hp from its 3.0L twin turbo V-6 power plant. That's enough power to rocket the little Maserati from 0-60mph in the three-second range, depending on which publication you ask. The opinion seems to be unanimous, the MC20 is a relative performance bargain in its class. Beating up on much more expensive cars from McLaren, Lamborghini, and even it's stablemate Ferrari.

In a world of exotics, super cars, and hyper cars, one could ask, "what more can be done with these marvels of engineering?" Can you truly modify a car like this and not ruin it? Long time German tuning house Novitec is here to answer that question with a resounding yes. They're currently offering a range of parts available either à la cart, or as a package that offers endless customization. When you opt for the full package, you're getting a full makeover for your new Maserati, from engine all the way down to interior details.

What Has Novitec Done To The Performance Of The MC20?

Please excuse the pun here, if you've ever heard of Novitec, it's probably their exhaust business that you've heard of first. They're actually much more than that, making individually crafted upgrades for many cars. Currently, their listing for applications goes from Tesla, to Rolls-Royce, to Ferrari. They offer full customization packages that boost performance, increase curb appeal, and tend to make a special car even more special.

In the performance category, the MC20 package from Novitec includes the newest technology from their exhaust department. Buyers have the option for their lightweight, free flowing exhaust to be made in the standard stainless steel, or high-tech F1 derived inconel. It's not just an exhaust system boosting that power, Novitec also adds in two of their plug-and-play N-TRONIC engine control system modules to dial in boost, timing, and ignition. All the wizardry adds up to a final output of 711hp, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 2.8 seconds. The car has a wider torque curve as well, with peak torque coming in from 3000 to 5500 rpm. Novitec lists 0-200km/h acceleration as a staggering 8.4 seconds and a top speed in excess of 201mph. They note that the performance pack not only increases overall performance, it also improves drivability with better throttle response and more powerful in-gear acceleration.

Has Novitec Improved The Looks Of The Maserati MC20?

Subjectively? Absolutely. Your opinion may very, that's a given. But, there are very few that would claim that the MC20 is not a handsome car on its own accord. When a tuner like Novitec gives their crew the go ahead to make it better, this car comes alive with detail.

As with most of their performance packages, the exterior modifications are nothing too out of the ordinary looking. What they set out to do, is to accentuate the features of the car that already grab your attention. Not only that, they wind tunnel test all of their aero parts. So, they're beautiful AND functional. The lip spoiler, for example, makes the front of the car look more aggressive than the stock lip. Finished in high gloss clear coat over naked carbon fiber, the design also reduces front-axle lift, dramatically improving handling characteristics at high speed. There's also an extended ducktail wing, generating even more down force.

Even the wheels are a high-tech, alluring upgrade over the factory equipment. US based manufacturer Vossen Wheels supplies Novitec with bespoke wheels for their performance package vehicle. Measuring in at 20x9 at the front and 21x12 out back, the forged mono block wheels promise better handling thanks to a slightly wider stance and impossibly meaty 325/25 rear tires. To help emphasize the already aggressive look, Novitec will also equip your MC20 with a 25mm lowering spring to tighten up the looks as well as give the car a slightly lower center of gravity.

Is This The Ultimate Maserati?

It's got more power, better looks, and custom tailored options available to the buyer. There's carbon fiber everywhere, up sized forged wheels, and an exhaust that they'll coat in 999 fine gold plating. The standard (if you can call it that) 2022 Maserati MC20 is already a car that feels pretty special. Yet, it seems that the Novitec treatment gives the buyer an even more special car to call their own.
