Some may consider it blasphemous to tarnish the grandeur of a Roll-Royce. But it seems German tuners Novitec is indifferent to the British nature of an RR. So they have violated a Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge to transform it into a sinister, widebody drop-top with a significant overdose of black. Not only has the exterior of the Dawn been altered, but changes have also been made under the skin. If a Roll-Royce isn’t exclusive enough, even fewer examples of this one will be built.

Dawn Black Badge Gets Spofec Overdose

German tuner Novitec has a few builds under the Spofec Overdose umbrella. A Roll-Royce Dawn Black Badge is its latest casualty. To the uninitiated, SPOFEC is short for Spirit of Ecstacy, Novitec’s Rolls-Royce tuning division. The Overdose is its wide body kit design that has been integrated into the Dawn.

The Overdose kit includes a flush finished wide body design that adds width to the Dawns shoulders and hips. This treatment to the Dawn makes it 5 inches wider at the rear and 3 inches at the front. In addition, the front and rear bumpers get a redesign to seamlessly integrate into the wider body of the Dawn. The front and rear fenders feature the highest alterations, while the side skirts are also revised. All the new body panels are made from carbon fiber. In addition, there’s also a carbon lip spoiler on the boot lid, which can be had in either primed to be painted or naked carbon fiber.

To fill those massive arches, the wheels have also been replaced. So you can say goodbye to the 20-inch polished wheels from the factory. In their place is a brand new 22-inch, hi-tech forged wheel set designed specifically for the Dawn by US specialist Vossen. They come wrapped in 265/35/ZR22 performance rubber. Needless to say, if the Black-Badge Dawn wasn’t blacked-out enough, Novitec seems to have taken it even further having the vehicle finished in black even more.

Spofec Gives The Rolls-Royce Dawn A Power Overdose

As standard, the Dawn packs quite a potent and refined 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine. In Novitec’s eyes, it only made a modest 601 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque. So they found a solution in the form of a new ECU upgrade. The Spofec N-Tronic processor-controlled device connects to the OEM engine management in a plug-and-play fashion.

Thanks to this, the Dawn gains more power and torque, now claimed at 686 bhp and 722 lb-ft of torque. Rolls-Royce claims the standard dawn accelerates from 0–62 mph in 4.9 seconds. As 722 lb-ft peak torque is accessible as low as 1,800 rpm, Novitec helps shave some of that time to 4.6 seconds, and onwards to a top speed of 155 mph.

On top of that, Spofec will also include its Can-Tronic Suspension Control Module that helps to lower the car by around 40mm, during vehicle operation until 87 mph.

The blacked-out Black Badge versions of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars are designed with performance in mind. Therefore, as standard, the Dawn features a heavy dose of carbon fiber applications and black-colored leather seats.

Buyers can personalize the interior even further with an endless assortment of themes, materials, and color combinations. Spofec will happily work further to deliver any other customizations that the customer desires and can dream up.

Spofec Dawn Black Badge Overdose: Too Far Gone

Most people would cringe at the idea of modifying, customizing, or tuning a Rolls-Royce. We can understand that and also relate to that notion. Rolls-Royce has been the automaker that builds the most luxurious and opulent hand-built automobiles for its discerning customers. The modern age customer, however, likes opulence with performance. And that's the Black Badge versions of the Dawn, Wraith, and Cullinan were born, to appeal to a younger demographic.

Sure, this would mean that you will find more Rolls-Royces doing burnouts and hard launches in this beast, and you can't blame them. While the Black Badge does take Rolls-Royce in that direction, some would say Spofec takes the Dawn Black Badge Overdose far too deep into the dark side.

So If you’re looking for a tuned convertible Rolls-Royce, you should know that Spofec will only be making three examples of the Dawn Black Badge Overdose. Better hurry up then.
