Carbon fiber trim is a common purchase by those that want to spice up their car's interior. Adding a steering wheel cover for enhanced gripping power is one thing but pimping out the interior with carbon fiber is an entirely different situation.

What do you do when you get bored with your car's interior? Well, one option is to add some fancy carbon fiber trim. This endeavor is not for everyone. Yes, it can possibly inject some new life into your vehicle and can potentially give it more of a new car smell. However, once the new smell wears off, you are left with the same vehicle, only with a different color scheme that is confined to a small area of your car.

The installation of carbon fiber trim in your car is not too dissimilar from hanging abstract artwork in your living room, artwork that you have no idea what its true meaning is. It changes the look of the room, yet it is truly for the better? Perhaps it depends upon who you let in the front door. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

But that does not mean that carbon trim fiber is the best solution for everyone.

Carbon Fiber Trim Serves No Real Purpose

There are times when the installation of carbon fiber trim goes well, and the results are promising. The looks can and will change once the interior heats up and the new trim starts to bubble. When this happens, the interior begins to look really cheap, which is probably the opposite of the desired outcome. Does carbon fiber trim make the car go any faster? No, it does not. Is the resale value of the vehicle increased because of installing carbon fiber trim? Possibly, but like a house owner, the new title holder may want to add their own touches.

An Unwarranted Expense

Originally, only expensive sports cars were made with carbon fiber - take a mid 90s McLaren F1 for example. The F1 is a true sports car that has a carbon fiber body that serves a purpose. Needless to say, it is a very expensive vehicle. Purchasing an interior carbon fiber kit can cost from just over ten dollars to one thousand dollars or even higher. Should you want to pay someone to install it, then you are talking about some serious cash.

Who Is Going To Be Impressed?

Who is going to be impressed? Maybe it is not about impressing anyone but just making yourself happy. If that is the case, then you might as well do it. On the flip side, if the plan is to install carbon fiber trim with the hopes of impressing the ladies, well good luck with that. If you want folks to think your car is faster than it truly is, remember to show just the interior with no need to rev the engine.
