If you're among the many Ford Mustang enthusiasts who wonder when the upcoming 2024 Ford Mustang S650 will be available to order, you may become surprised to learn that the wait isn't months or even weeks but according to at least one Ford dealer, the order books will open in just a few days.

RacerX recently spoke to his local Ford dealership who provided more information on when dealers can order the car. The 2024 Mustang is exciting for several reasons beyond just a new generation of the iconic sports car as it will still have a V8 engine and will finally release the highly-anticipated Dark Horse version.

2024 Ford Mustang Order Date

RacerX mentions that the 2024 Mustang is one of the most highly anticipated cars and has been for a while now. While the Mustang has a loyal fanbase, the upcoming Mustang's desirability is even higher than normal thanks to a few different factors from the other American automakers that build the Mustang's competition. The C8 Corvette is widely celebrated but the fact that pricing on C8 Corvettes is frequently high above MSRP makes it unrealistic for many enthusiasts.

At this time, the future of the Chevrolet Camaro is uncertain and discontinuation is possible. We know that the Dodge Challenger will, at the very least, change from its current form in the next few years and could eliminate the V8 engine it currently has, making it possible that the Mustang becomes the only affordable V8 American sports car on sale.

Seemingly acknowledging the market advantage the Mustang may likely have, Ford built the new Mustang with 1 more horsepower (2024 GT with performance exhaust) than the Dodge Scat Pack outputs.

RacerX then shares content from Ford showing the GT's 486 horsepower rating and 500 horsepower for the Dark Horse. The car will also include dual intakes, large displays and an improved driver-centric cockpit.

RacerX mentions that on the Ford website, information on ordering the new Mustang is extremely limited but that will all likely change before the end of the month. According to RacerX's dealer source, the 2024 Mustang will become available to order on January 14th.

RacerX concludes that after the order books open, Ford will add more information on the 2024 Mustang to the website, in addition to exact pricing and specs for the various trim levels of the car. RacerX estimates that a base Mustang GT will cost somewhere in the high $40,000 range and a Dark Horse that is well-optioned will be somewhere above $70,000. However, at this time, those numbers are just estimates and will get confirmed by Ford sometime soon.
