No, this isn't an alien spacecraft from Mars. It's a graphic rendering of an earthly production supercar that borrowed some design elements from a retired super aircraft of the United States Air Force and NASA.  Rendered by a graphic artist named Wanoco 4d, this digitally edited Pagani Huayra features the doors and windows of the legendary SR-71 Blackbird.

Reimagined Pagani Huayra

The Pagani Huayra is not just known for its as astonishing quickness and speed, but also for its spectacular design. Featuring gull-wing doors, the Huayra coupe incorporates active aerodynamics. Four independently operating flaps (on the front and rear) can change their behavior to achieve maximum downforce or minimal drag coefficient, depending on the situation.

Pagani commenced production of the Huayra coupe in 2017, and it still lives through several variants and special editions. From a land-travel standpoint, the Huayra is a speed demon with the ability to achieve a top speed of 238 mph (383 km/h) and sprint from zero to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.

SR-71: Ruling The Skies With Speed

The Lockheed Martin SR-71 Blackbird was considered way ahead of its time when it was introduced in the 1960s. Built and operated as a strategic reconnaissance aircraft, it ruled the skies thanks to its ability to fly at speeds of Mach 3.3 at an altitude of 85,000 feet.

During missions, the SR-71 Blackbird had no need for self-defense weapons. Why? It's difficult to detect thanks to its minimal overall cross-section (a.k.a stealth). Even when detected and locked on by missiles, a Blackbird just needs to speed up and outfly. The SR-71 Blackbird was eventually retired by the U.S. Air Force in 1998 and by NASA in 1999,

A mechanical engineering student and a graphics hobbyist based in Kyoto, Japan, Wanoco 4d boasts a wide portfolio of 3D CG work focusing on sci-fi or futuristic aircraft, spacecraft, vehicles, and even characters.

Thus, it's no wonder that Wanoco 4d infused into a Huayra some design elements from a sci-fi-like aircraft of more than 50 years ago. Specifically, Wanoco 4d replaced the roof and windows of the Huayra with that of a SR-71 Blackbird, along with minor metal sheet revisions.
