There are many new cars on the market. We have more choices than ever before, and even for us car enthusiasts, things can become confusing. There are some cars on sale today that are absolute bargains, and we as car enthusiasts should really consider some of these models when we're after a new car. However, some other cars are severely overpriced, and you should really think twice before buying one.

For this reason, we've decided to dive into five overpriced new cars and five that are a real bargain.

10 BMW M4 Competition (Overpriced)

The new BMW M4 is a very controversial car. You either love it or hate it, and that's all thanks to its front bumper. On paper though, it sounds like a very good car. In competition form, you have over 500hp under the hood, a nice carbon exterior, and a 0-60 time of under 4 seconds.

However, it starts at $74,700 which is a heck of a lot of cash. That's before you start piling the options on and then the car starts to cost almost $100,000. Not worth it for an M4 at all. So many other better cars out there, and depreciation on these cars is terrible.

9 Corvette C8 (Real Bargain)

For just under $60,000 new, you can have a car that does a sub-3-second 0-60 time and looks like a supercar. The new C8 Corvette is one of the greatest cars to come from America, and it provides amazing value for money. Under the hood is a 6.2 V8 with almost 500hp and over 465 torques.

This car also looks fabulous and inside it feels as if you are in a cockpit. You can get a high spec C8 for the same price as a new M4, and we know what we would rather have! Unfortunately, these cars are selling at double or even triple the sticker price on the used car market right now due to demand.

8 Maserati Ghibli (Overpriced)

The Maserati Ghibli is a very overpriced car in every single way. It's not very fast, it doesn't look very good at all, and the build quality is very mediocre. A new Ghibli starts at just over $74,000, which is absurd. The Ghibli just doesn't offer good value at all. It's as big as a 5-series, it's slower than an M550i, and build quality doesn't match its German rivals at all.

There are so many better cars out there for the same price or less in comparison to the Ghibli. This Italian also suffers from horrible depreciation.

7 Tesla Model 3 Performance (Real bargain)

Via Electrek

The Tesla Model 3 Performance is an amazing car, and at just $54,990 it is a bit of a bargain. It seats five, does over 350 miles of range, and hits 60 in just 3.2 seconds. It hits 60 faster than an Audi R8, yet it costs near enough $100,000 less.

It's a very technologically advanced car, and it has won many awards. It's also the best-selling electric car in history and for a very good reason. Maybe it's time for you to get one?

6 McLaren Artura (Overpriced)

The new McLaren Artura is a great car, but it is just too expensive for what it is. It starts at over $225,000 which is far too much for a car like this. It's meant to be an "entry-level" supercar, so there is really no need to make it stupidly expensive. The previous 570S model was priced at $192,000 or so, a lot of money but nothing crazy for a supercar.

Yes, the Artura is faster and all, but depreciation will be a huge issue. Furthermore, these cars come from a brand that has a very checkered reputation for reliability and customer aftercare. You have to remember, it's not just the MSRP that determines whether or not it's overpriced. It's things like servicing fees, maintenance costs, parts, etc., which also play a part. McLaren's are very expensive to service, maintain, acquire parts, etc.

5 Ford Mustang EcoBoost (Real Bargain)

For just over $27,000 you can bag yourself a nice fun car that you can use every day quite easily. The V8 Mustang may be all the rage, but the 2.3 EcoBoost model isn't exactly in the GT's shadow. The engine used in the EcoBoost Mustang is a brilliant one that pushes out 310hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.

It hits 60 in just 5.1 seconds, which is pretty fast, and flat out it will do 155 mph. Hardly a slouch then. If you want a car from Europe that has that sort of performance, usability, and looks, you are looking at the Audi TTS which starts at $59,500. Even a new Golf R starts at just over $41,000. This car is a serious bargain then.

4 Hongqi L5 (Overpriced)

CarSalesBase

The Hongqi L5 is a nice car but at $1.2 million, it just doesn't make any sense. The Hongqi L5 costs more than double a new Rolls Royce Phantom, arguably the world's most luxurious car. Therefore, you expect it to be, double the car. Unsurprisingly it isn't. It isn't even half as good as a Phantom.

It may feature exotic materials such as jade, a lot of soft leather, and rosewood paneling but these do not compensate for some of the larger omissions this car has. It does not have air suspension, a powerful engine, or even start/stop technology. It does though have its badge finished in the same font and style of Chairman Mao's handwriting.

3 Nissan GTR (Bargain)

For just over $113,000 you get a missile with four seats, a sat-nav, a radio, and some carpets. The GTR has been around now since 2007, and arguably not much has changed. It still looks pretty much the same, has the same engine, gearbox, annoying trunk, etc. However, this car every time manages to absolutely obliterate its rivals.

It hits 60 in 2.7 seconds and flat out will do almost 200 mph. It has 562hp and 467 lb-ft of torque. Apart from the cheaper and better C8 Corvette, no other stock car can achieve these figures for this sort of price point or less. To get this sort of acceleration figures from Europe, you will need a lot of cash. The closest car to this is the 992 Turbo S which starts at just over $203,000 before options. The GTR then is a mental car.

2 Maserati Quattroporte (Overpriced)

The Quattroporte is just too old. It has been around since 2013, and the only real advantage it has now over the likes of the S-Class and Panamera is looks and sound. Interior-wise, it's outdated. Performance-wise hot-hatchbacks are begging to become a lot faster. Build quality we've seen food blenders that are built to a higher standard.  Technology-wise, well even the modern retirement village is more advanced.

It starts at just over $109,000 which is similar to a new S-Class. No point comparing the two as it will only upset Maserati enthusiasts. Plus, the Quattroporte is the fastest depreciating car in America. So, if you have money to waste, buy yourself one of these.

1 Kia Telluride (Bargain)

For just $33,000 you can have the 2020 World Car of The Year. For just over $50,000 you can bag yourself a fully loaded Telluride, which is less than a base Chevrolet Suburban. It may not be as big, but it's hardly small, is it? Still fits in a family and the interior is far nicer.

The Telluride is the family car that every family needs. It's practical, stylish, and packs in great value for money. It's been getting top reviews everywhere, and it is absolutely crushing its competitors. If you have a family, and you need a spacious car that is more stylish than any minivan ever created plus packs in a lot of tech and luxury features, look no further.
