Introduced in 1992, Pagani was set to rival fellow supercar manufacturers such as Lamborghini and Ferrari. Ex-Lamborghini engineer, Horacio Pagani, set the company up in the back garden of Lamborghini and Ferrari near Modena, Italy. It later turned out that Pagani was in fact successful in producing sports cars that could compete with Lamborghini and Ferrari.

The introduction of the Pagani Zonda in 1999, followed by a 20-year run and 140 examples, established Pagani as a true and dangerous rival. The final version of the Pagani Zonda was shaped in the form of the Pagani Zonda Revolucion, and this one really did bang! Released in 2013, the Pagani Zonda Revolucion was an even more powerful and aerodynamically superior version of the track-only Pagani Zonda R, with an ever bigger and more aggressive engine.

Let's start with the best bit, the engine. With the Paganis' familiar naturally aspirated AMG Mercedes V12 engine being used, it's no surprise that the Zonda Revolucion’s 6.0-liter powertrain could produce an insane 800 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque. Which were a whopping 50 horses more than its predecessor.

This added power and additional horses allowed the Pagani Zonda Revolucion to reach a new top speed of 233 mph and complete a 0-60 mph time in just 2.7 seconds. Lightweight magnesium made up a six-speed sequential transmission which powered the rear-wheel drive system. The transmission was highly impressive, to say the least, and it provided gear changes in as little as 20ms.

The Pagani Zonda Revolucion had many additional features that further improved the traction system, with 12 different traction settings made available. This, alongside the re-evaluated and modified ABS system, gave the driver the ability to fashion a driving style specifically targeted at themselves and their personal preferences.

Zonda Revolucion Gets Insane Aerodynamics And Brakes

Another huge development in the Zonda Revolucion was its improved aerodynamic capabilities. The aerodynamics on the Pagani Zonda Revolucion were upgraded with front deflectors now seen on the bonnet, a vertical stabilizer on the rear and an all new drag reduction system on the rear wing. The rather innovative drag reduction system could be controlled both manually and automatically.

A button on the steering wheel would activate the system manually, while leaving the button would allow the system to kick in automatically. Once the DRS system kicked in, the rear wing changed between maximum and minimum downforce in the event of a lateral acceleration of +/-0.8g and a minimum speed of 62 mph.

Yet again, another component of the Zonda Revolucion that was uprated were its brakes. Its carbon ceramic Brembo brakes provided the motor with reduced fade, 15 % weight saving, additional stopping power and increased durability. How much increased durability? Well the upgraded Brembo brakes were expected to last four times long as the previous brakes used on the Pagani Zonda.

Pagani Zonda Revolucion Is Beautiful And Exhilarating

The Pagani Zonda Revolucion showed the pinnacle of evolution when it came to the Zonda, and it showcased pure speed. What Pagani wanted to achieve with the Zonda Revolucion was an insanely fast car that would surpass that of the Pagani Zonda R. They wanted to exhilarate their customers, and they wanted to do that with speed! Although limits are set to be exceeded, it would be an extremely difficult task making the Zonda Revolucion faster than the Zonda R, the fastest ever car on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

While the positives of the Pagani Zonda Revolucion completely outweigh the negatives, it doesn’t mean that it didn’t have any negatives. The main problem was that it was too powerful and speedy and was completely useless as a car unless it was on the track. While most supercars can switch from racer to city car, the Pagani Zonda Revolucion finds it extremely difficult, which is what makes it one of the most ridiculous supercars of all time. In the form of the Zonda R, Pagani took the absurd supercar and made it even more absurd in every capacity.

The Pagani Zonda Revolucion is a perfect example of what is actually possible when rules are discarded and boundaries are broken. Keeping these factors in mind, it makes the Pagani Zonda Revolucion even more lovable. Well its safe to see that the Pagani Zonda Revolucion was a highly impressive motor. It did and still will provide you with an insane experience. Thrills and excitement would never be far away when seated in the Pagani Zonda Revolucion. An extreme track experience in a fully road legal car, what else could you ask for? Not much!

Despite the beautiful looks of the Pagani Zonda Revolucion, and its mega impressive performance statistics its price tag was still pretty excessive to say the least. A whopping $2.2 million would have been needed to purchase one of these bad boys, which seems ridiculously overpriced even for such an impressive car.
