Updated July 2021: If you're a fan of the men and women from the Parking Wars reality TV show, we have updated this article to make it more accurate and to include more details of what really happened on the show and what the cast has been up to since the show ended.

Parking Wars first aired in January 2008. This show only had 7 seasons and was canceled in December 2012. What made this show so great was that you got to see how these PPA employees work and how vehicle owners reacted when their cars were taken away, had a boot clamped to their car, or they received a ticket for parking illegally.

The cast was made up of some weird and funny individuals who definitely meant business.

Martin was a cast member on the show, and a PPA member employed as a tow truck driver on the show.

Sadly, Martin passed away shortly before the show's debut due to heart complications. The show's official page at aetv.com has a section dedicated to his memory.

When the show aired, they did not dedicate the episode to him or his family, however, they did let you know at the end of the episode that he had passed away.

Why Was The Show Canceled?

Via: A&E

There were actually a few different things that helped contribute to the show being canceled.

The first, and perhaps most important factor, was that the show's ratings weren't exactly great towards the end. Another reason that was made apparent on social media was that Philadelphia citizens were somewhat upset with the way the A&E network was portraying their city. It wasn't just those living in Philly who were upset, though.

The local tourist board received a lot of letters and emails from viewers who said that they would never visit the city because of the way the Philadelphia Parking Authority dealt with the situations they found themselves in. Some of the people the parking attendants came across on the show were visitors to the city who said that they found the local parking rules difficult to understand because it was different from where they live.

This cast meant business, and it really made for some great TV, but at the end of the day, many viewers did not agree with how situations were dealt with and that left a bad taste in their mouths.

Getting involved in issues that happen on the street does make you laugh and makes the series easy to watch, but at the end of the day, it may not have been the sort of behavior the locals expected from government employees.

Where Is Sherry Royal And Steve Garfield Today?

Via: aetv.com

Sherry Royal and Steve Garfield were two of the main cast members on the show. There is not a lot of information out there about what has happened to them after the show ended, but we did manage to dig up some information...

Steve Garfield used to put the boots on the cars and Sherry used to deal with the paperwork. Some viewers of the show interpreted this as Steve didn't think Sherry was strong enough to do it herself. However, nothing could be further from the truth!

Steve is an old-fashioned guy, and he believed Sherry shouldn't have to the booting all the time, so because of that, she did not have to do the heavy lifting when he was around. It was never about him not believing she could do it, or her not wanting to. These two worked very well together.

Sherry Royal was good with helping the people deal with the fact that their cars were being taken away or booted. She has 8 children of her own, so it is nice to see the inner mother come out in the show.

Steve Garfield retired from the PPA in 2015.

Where Does PPA Money Go?

Via: Episode Ninja

Philadelphia actually accumulated over $99 million in parking violation payments in 2013 alone. So where does all this money go to?

The money that they get generates needed revenue for the city. That money then goes into a budget, and they use it towards schools, fixing the roads, build and operate public parking facilities, and so on.
