For classic car auctions, you really don’t need to look much further than Bring A Trailer. The website regularly features some incredible classic cars for sale. This is one amazing classic car and not just any Ford Mustang. This is a 1966 Shelby GT350, currently located in Monterey, California. This was bought new in 1966 and remained with its first owner until his passing in 1984. It was then acquired by the current owner, from the second owner, in 1989. It was then sold again and was acquired by the current owner in the mid-2000s.

A Unique Example Of A Shelby GT350

Let's look at what makes this car unique. The 289 HiPo V8 engine was fitted with a Paxton supercharger in the 1990s, and this was subsequently paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission as well. Now then, let's take a look at the exterior of the car.

It is finished in a Wimbledon White with blue Le Mans stripes over the bodywork. There are features unique among Shelby Mustangs as well. These include a steel-framed fiberglass hood with a scoop, hood pins, and plexiglass rear quarter windows. It is a very different Shelby compared to some of the more modern beasts that we see.

Fitted to the car are Shelby-Crager 15” alloy wheels, which were optional for early 1966 Shelby Mustangs. Also fitted to this car are Michelin Pilot tires, with a matching spare in the trunk too. Kelsey-Hayes front disc brakes are fitted as standard, and the car also has larger rear drum brakes, larger than that of those fitted on regular Ford Mustang models.

A Fantastic Interior Signed By Carroll Shelby

The interior is in fantastic condition. The interior of the Shelby is trimmed in black knit vinyl over the front bucket seats. The black also extends to the optional fold-down rear seat, and there are color-keyed door panels and carpeting as well. There are some amenities too, such as an AM radio. The passenger-side visor has also been signed by Carroll Shelby, adding another unique touch to this already very special car.
