Customization has grown so popular these days that everyone wants to customize almost everything. Since the olden days of GMC pickups, more and more pickup trucks are flooding the roads. Every household wants to own a truck. And with so many models being in production, people have decided to modify their pickups to fit their specific needs.
Modified trucks can feature customized body works, souped-up powertrains, or simply a unique painting style that makes the truck stand out from the crowd. People have customized their trucks to make them off-road monsters, while others want to make them track kings. And others just want to make them look pretty.
Whatever the reason for modification, some of these trucks come out stunning – perfect work of art. But others come out looking ridiculous. Here are five perfectly modified pickup trucks, and five that look ridiculous.
10 Perfect: Toyota Hilux
This Toyota Hilux SR5 was a perfect farm truck until someone decided to morph it up to a weekend warrior. If you look at it from a distance, you can see, if not smell, the muscle on this truck. Its 3.0L engine has been modified to supply acclaimed 200kW to the wheels. The D4-D’s stock turbocharger has been switched with a more serious Garret Stage III turbo.
The beast can crawl over any terrain without the fear of harming its belly thanks to the six-inch lift. The owner of this truck also replaced the top-mounted intercooler with a front-mounted unit – more substantial and more efficient with custom piping. There is a lot that has been done on this truck, and it is perfect.
9 Ridiculous: Lambo Doors On A Chevy Pickup
Scissor doors or gullwing – these doors look perfect on a high-end sports car, even Tesla has made a beautiful electric sports car with gullwing doors. But Lamborghini does it perfectly. How about Lambo doors on a pickup truck? The builder of this Chevrolet pickup truck just decided to fix scissor doors on a work truck – and it looks ridiculous.
8 Perfect: Ford F-250 Megaraptor
Have you ever looked at a Raptor straight to the eyes and thought, yeah, this is good, how I wish it could get better? Well, these were the thoughts at the back of the creator of this Ford F-250 Megaraptor’s head. This Raptor is based on the Ford F-250 or F-350 super duty – a massive truck with monster towing energy.
The Megaraptor strips the originals of their factory parts before fitting it with much mightier and lovelier parts. There are massive tires and wheels, and a unique four-inch Icon lift with Bilstein shocks suspension, and extra fiberglass bodywork designed to imitate the latest Raptor’s sporty look. The massive tires help lift the differentials out of the mud and help the truck to maneuver tricky off-road terrains.
7 Ridiculous: Extremely Low Ford F-100
Again, sports cars would look pretty beautiful when built low, but not pickup trucks. And not just appearance, a pickup truck modified low has no purpose. I mean, what are pickups for if not towing stuff? If not for the beautiful paint job on this Ford F-100 truck, everybody would believe it is grounded.
6 Perfect: Toyota Tundra Modified Off-Road
Part of it looks like a SWAT assault vehicle – but a closer look reveals a furious mad max truck. The modified 4x4, 2013 Toyota Tundra TRD Off-Road truck looks like it can take on any terrain. And it can. The customized pickup comes with the stock 5.7L V8 powertrain that cranks out 381 horses of power, and 401 lb.-ft of torque.
The engine works with a six-speed automatic transmission with a manual shifting mode that is seamlessly combined with a four-wheel-drive system that is controlled electronically. And that is all you will find stock on this off-road monster; the rest is a bit more than standard.
5 Ridiculous: Rainbow Chrome-Wrap On Ford Super Duty
Chrome is beautiful; everyone would love their cars modified with a chrome wrap. But not any color, especially not the rainbow chrome wrap on this Ford Super Duty Truck. And not just the rainbow chrome paint that makes this truck look funny, the super duty also sits on 26” by 16” special forged wheels that are painted purple.
4 Perfect: Ford-150
The biggest, and the most badass modified truck – this modified Ford F-150 truck with 37-inch tires even beats Ford’s own desert raptor. It is a one-of-a-kind modification that turns heads on the road more than many of the most prominent standard off-road vehicles. It is built with a big performance-tuned exhaust and wide flared fenders designed for Baja racing trucks.
The 5.0L Ford Coyote V8 engine has been tuned to drive on 93 octane gasoline. Almost everything on this truck is custom-built – the bumpers, exhausts, and even the tubular side steps. A new unique suspension gives the modified Ford F-150 1.5 inches more ground clearance than the Raptor.
3 Ridiculous: A Little Too Much Lifting On This Chevy Truck
A lifted pickup truck is suitable for work and weekend off-road getaways. Everyone loves a good lift-kit on their old-school pickup truck, at least it makes it a little fun, and can compete with the new pickups with the modern off-road technology.
But how high is too high for a pickup truck lifting? 10 feet? 12 feet? Maybe this Chevrolet truck can tell you how far is too far when you are lifting your vehicle.
2 Perfect: GMC Pickup Truck
Big, bright, and pretty – the modified GMC Sierra Denali. The truck rides with confidence on 26-inch by 16-inch majestic American wheels with a colorful illusion blueberry plate. The Sierra Denali rides high on a 15-inch full throttle suspension lift. The suspension is powder coated with blue to match the bright blueberry color on the wheels.
The truck uses low-profile bumpers on both rear and front – the bumpers are from Hammerhead Armor. As for power? Nothing can stop this truck as it has been equipped with a 5-inch turbo-back exhaust from FloPro.
The engine has been custom-tuned with PPEI to omit emissions using EFI Live. The air intake has been maximized using the AFE Power cold-air intake system. The engine modification, the body, the tires, and the suspension – this GMC Sierra Denali is a perfect work of art.
1 Ridiculous: This Ford Truck Has Got Nutz
People have done crazy things on their trucks in the name of modification, but nutz? Really? This must be the most-ridiculous truck mod you have ever seen on the road. I mean, there must have been a better way for the owner of this Ford Pickup truck to tell the world how good it really is. The blue paint makes it even more ridiculous.
