The year 2020 has been tough for all of us, and like myself, I am sure you can’t wait to see the back of it. One thing I certainly hope returns soon are physical shows, ceremonies, and events. We can but hope that next year sees those gradually return, as Zoom has perhaps become the word of the year. In partnership with Omaze, the Petersen Automotive Museum has put together the virtual winter Porsche Concours, the debut of the Porsche Concours, and hopefully the last one that will have to take place virtually.

An Hour-Long Special

The full Concours is virtually an hour-long, so we could not possibly feature every vehicle showcased in the show here in this article, but we can certainly run through a few of them. The show features some classic and modern Porsches, such as this 1976 Porsche 911S that has been submitted by Jay Ward, quite a rare, original machine. This is finished in a gorgeous blue, and has the original paint, interior, including no engine changes. This is perhaps as original as you can get. And Jay treats it like a car, not just a showpiece!

Another car featured is much more modern. There is Mark Sloan Osmers' 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera, perhaps a Porsche that can be regarded as a modern classic. Mark describes it as a real driver's car; it’s a light and stiff car with a 7-speed manual transmission. Manual always makes a car more fun. And of course, that modern interior has all the creature comforts that you will need.

A 1970s Classic

Lastly, I want to focus on David Parsons' 1973 Porsche 914. This is an absolute gem that David found by working in Kansas around 30 years ago. Despite his wife thinking it was a bad idea, he went ahead and bought it and since then it has become a member of the family. It has classic 1970s styling, and he has even fitted SDS fuel injection to the car! The full video is linked to this article, and it features some great Porsche machines.
