This has got to be one of the most amusing car-ticles I have ever written in my time here with the site. There is something that everyone can understand when it comes to the satisfaction one gets at seeing a cop car in some sort of turmoil. I don't personally wish any harm on cops. I think they are necessary and many are pillars of the community, but we all know that there are those cops who love to just exert authority on people and for that, we have this car-ticle.

This piece is all about cop cars that have been found to be stuck, in one way or another, making it pretty well impossible for the officer in charge of the vehicle to go out on a chase. Now, I'm not condoning criminals getting away, but who hasn't enjoyed watching the bumbling cop juggle donuts and coffee while trying to hop in their car and get out after them Duke boys or some similar iconic mischief maker?

I think it's all in us to want to see some struggle from the cops. We so often see the stereotypical image of a lazy beat cop chomping down on donuts that I think it's healthy for us to poke a bit of fun their way when we can.

22 Police Diver

TheRoyalGazette.com

I have to give props to the man here sorting out just what to do with this cop car. I mean, he is a police diver, according to his shirt, and he is also wearing camo shorts. Or at least, they would be camo if he was diving in the ocean. I don't know that this cruiser really needs a diver in order to hook it up to a truck and get it hauled out of the flood zone, but I will say that a tow truck would definitely still be able to get in there to pull this car out, even if the car is flooded. I guess what I'm saying is that any chase here would be delayed, but the car is certainly salvageable.

21 Stuck In The Snow

CNN.com

Well, if there was ever a reason for a cop car not to be able to give chase to some suspect or other, I think being jammed into a ton of snow is probably a good one. I mean, at least the cop closest in the frame does seem to be having a good time while they try and push this cruiser out of the snow. That being said, I'm wondering why I don't see any shovels kicking around. I know that, in many parts of my country, cops carry shovels of some sort in the trunk in case of this sort of thing. If a cop knows there is snow where they live, they should be prepped, lest the perp get away (though they're probably stuck not far down the road anyway).

20 Stuck In The Muck

Pinterest.com

I have a couple of questions here, myself. Actually, it really only is one big question. Why is the cop driving through the field? I mean, if it is a gloomy day and it has been raining, and the field is in low land, then it should be obvious that it's going to be nothing but a big mud puddle. I applaud the officer's attempt to use cardboard to get a decent amount of grip to get out, but I think that only really works in snowy conditions. When the cardboard is just shoved in a puddle, it just gets soggy and useless. Either way, I think it's safe to say that whoever this guy was chasing...seems to have plenty of time ahead to get away.

19 Stolen Wheels...

HoustonChronicle.com

Well, if this does not stop a cop car from giving chase to some perp, then I don't know what does. That being said, I cannot imagine just how this actually happened in the first place. Or rather, I can imagine it, but not without incredulity. I mean, this isn't even the only police car in the photo and yet someone was able to go out of their way to jack up this car, steel its back wheels, and then disappear...WITH THE WHEELS and not have anyone go after them. I mean, the cop car in the background still seems functional to me. Unless they cut the brake lines or something.

18 Cemented Firmly

Noteabley.com

This actually makes me gut laugh a little bit. I mean...there is really only a special kind of person who decides to pay no mind to any of the warning signs and construction signs on this road and just goes straight through a freshly paved section of pavement. And that special type of person is an officer who does not think that the rules apply to her. Unfortunate though that may be to have in our society...I'm kind of glad they exist because then we get these sorts of photos where we get to laugh and laugh at their expense. That being said...both the damage to the car and the damage to the road end up coming out of our tax dollars at one point or another.

17 Moose Block

TheSpokesman.com

This is perhaps one of the greatest things to stop a cop car from going anywhere. I don't know if anyone here has ever come across a moose, but they are massive creatures and certainly one of the most to be wary of, for sure. I was driving with my dad once and a great big cow moose came out of the woods and right toward us. Just before it stepped onto the car, it turned and ran with us a while...keeping pace on the highway. No one wants to get in the way of a moose, that's for sure. And no one wants to lose their car or their life trying to get by one of them either.

16 L.A. Slide

LosAngelesTimes.com

Has anyone ever experienced a landslide before? They are not the prettiest of things. That being said, they are most certainly fascinating. There is something about the force of all that ground moving down and over our technological creations that is just awe-inspiring; to know that nature still has power over us. Either way, this officer found out that it's not the best idea to try and drive through one of these slides, for sure. And here we have the proof of that concept. Getting stuck in the muck is definitely going to stop any cop from giving chase. They're just lucky they weren't buried in the slide.

15 Houston...We Have A Problem

MiamiNewTimes.com

I think everyone has got to be aware now of the incredible amount of flooding that took place in Texas thanks to Hurricane Harvey's appearance in September of last year. Now, I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm pretty sure that when the cop van is in water up to the steering wheel...that pretty much means that they can no longer give chase. That being said, I think no one else could really be driving unless they had a snorkel on their engine, and even then, the water is pretty high in this photo for I think most vehicles. I think the only thing for it is a boat chase!

14 Hauled From The Mud

GreenvillePoliceDepartment.com

I cannot imagine how embarrassing it must be to be driving down a dirt road, see a puddle, think nothing of it and then have to call in or have a local haul me out because I figured that my cop cruiser could handle a simple little puddle. That being said, the little puddle in this photo is more like a giant puddle or a little pond. I mean, I have seen ponds and water features that I would never drive through in people's backyards that are much smaller than this. I don't think the cop could have been to surprised by the results here. I think any chance of chase has been swamped.

13 Oh, There's The Ditch...

NewCastleNews.com

Now, look. This is something that I actually completely understand. I think that a bit more sense could have been used when it comes to just how a cop ended up in a flooded ditch but I get why this happened. The roads are already flooded. This means that the lines on the street and the edges of the road are not clearly observable lines anymore. That is certainly an issue. So, what happened here was that the cop lost sight of exactly where the edge of the road was, overcorrected where they should be, and ended up in deep trouble. Of course, I think that the car in the background has it a little worse off. I guess they missed where their driveway was?

12 Where's Your Mom...?

Noteabley.com

Alright, this is just not ok. I don't know how many people here know anything about bears but there is a pretty important thing that one should not do when it comes to bears. If there is a little bear cub wandering about an area, the thing that people should not do is take out their cell phones and go up to it for a photo. Sure, maybe the bear could get a little aggro, but that's not the thing to worry about. It's all about where the mama bear is. Unless mama bear is MIA, chances are she is not far from the cub and the fact that this cop got out of her car to take a photo and someone else took a photo of her...very silly. She is lucky that she lived and could manage to drive her cruiser another day.

11 Off-Roading

WAPT.com

It really must suck to end up putting a Dodge in the ditch. I certainly would not want to dump my Charger in any way shape or form. Especially if it were a cop cruiser. Because not only is that a Charger, but that is a Charger that has been tricked out, jacked up, and loaded with all sorts of tech that was paid for by the people of the area. It's not like this police-issued Dodge was purchased by the officer who drives it. And now it's half-submerged in a ditch, even after the flooding on the street has receded. It is amazing that it sat there as long as it did. Maybe it's still there.

10 Flatlined

KentOnline.com

This cop car comes from across the pond and is clearly not going anywhere in a hurry. Some people may not have already noticed just why that is so I shall spell it out for everyone, just to make sure we are on the same page: the TIRES are FLAT! Sure, the car could still run and they could still give chase but not without completely wrecking the rims and perhaps even more, depending on how hard they go. The fact that the tires are flat already is enough to raise alarm about the structural integrity of the rims. They are just going to slowly warp as they press into the ground and there will be no car chase with this cruiser.

9 Clowns...

YahooNewsCanada.com

Alright, I am not particularly afraid of clowns but I do happen to think that this is a pretty good reason to not even think about getting in the car to give chase. I would not want to go to my cruiser to start my route or get into a chase situation if I went out to the lot and saw this guy standing up against my car. No way. I have seen one too many creepy movies to know that it would be a very bad idea to try and get in that car. The chase can wait, I would say. Though there is another cruiser behind the clown. Maybe that one can be taken out for a spin instead?

8 Cop Car Junkyard

Newsday.com

This is actually incredible. Apparently, back in 2014, the Suffolk police had a backlog on the number of cop cars that needed repairing that was so bad that 20% of their cruisers were simply just not in action. This is what the backlog looked like back then. I can only imagine that more cars have been added unless they ended up with some sort of boost in funding for their budget. Either way, that means that 20% more chases could not be engaged because these vehicles are all out of the running. Of course, there was a pull to use auxiliary vehicles in the place of these ones, but I doubt that was near as effective as these could have been.

7 Beached

UKNEws.com

I really cannot understand, for the life of me, why an officer would think it a good idea to drive their cop truck out onto a beach. And this is clearly an ocean-side beach, given the tidal stretch out beyond where this truck is stuck. I mean...obviously this is all going to be mud. And now this guy is trying to dig his way out which will just lead to more water seeping in and making everything worse anyway. At first glance, I thought this truck was a car because of how deeply stuck in the muck it is. I think it will take more than a shovel to get this car back out onto the road where it belongs.

6 Bear Cub Blockade

APNews.com

I am sure that there are some cops who would love a bear to pop up in front of their cars so that they didn't have to go hunting and could get their meat for the year right there. However, this is a bear cub and anyone who would just take out a bear cub for standing in front of their parked car has got issues, I think. Either way, the cop in this cruiser should certainly not get out of the car, though they obviously did given that there is a photo from outside of the car. I just wonder where mama bear could have got to. That is one of the biggest worries in the great white north when there is a bear cub wandering about "by itself."

5 Smoked Out

YouTube.com

This one is a bit ridiculous. Essentially, two cops decided to play a prank and go out of their way, with a fog machine in the cruiser, to make it look like they were partaking in some sort of herbal remedy. They would then leave the car that looked quite sufficiently hot-boxed and they would promptly receive a great deal of upset from the people around them for being bad cops. Of course, they would reveal to the people, in the end, that it was all a prank, but whether real or not, this would certainly hinder a chase. Other than a chase for a Mars Bar.

4 Oh, Deer...I'm Stuck

Storytrender.com

Don't worry everyone! This deer is actually very much alive and was released from the wheel well of this cop truck without harm. It scared me when I first saw it as well and I really did not want to read the rest of the article, lest it was something just too sad that had happened. Realistically though, this buck deer was agitated and making noise in a neighborhood so the cops were called in to deal with him. He was probably agitated because it was the rutting season, so he ran straight up and into the truck's wheel well, was tranquilized, and eventually removed and put back in the woods.

3 Ditched

YouTube.com

Well, this is what happens when someone texts and drives. And it is good to know that cops also experience this sort of thing...even though it is against the law. I mean, how else is a cop going to end up putting their cruiser in the ditch like this? And it is pretty clear that they were not speeding into the ditch. If they were, the car would've likely flipped or the front end would at least be pretty damaged. Nope. Instead, this car just looks like it went for an unexpected tumble off the road and into the ditch. I am pretty surprised that the back end is up as high as it is though.
