Cars are ubiquitous around the world. Whether a person is in a first or a third world country, he or she can spot amazing cars on the roads. While most of us dream about owning lavish vehicles, others take sports cars for granted. Some people have so much money that they purchase numerous vehicles and fail to maintain it. Such behavior prompts one to wonder if those people deserve those possessions.
Whether or not they deserve it is one issue, but the other issue is the abandonment of lavish vehicles. Seeing beautiful cars on the side of the road is disheartening to most people, yet some drivers can walk away from those cars without feeling bad.
Although numerous abandoned vehicles lie in first world countries such as the United Arab Emirates and the U.S., we wanted to explore the rest of the world to see how drivers treat their vehicles.
Our exploration led us to India where we found drivers who had no problems parting with their vehicles by leaving it in an alley or the bushes. Although the sight was pretty devastating, we gleaned pictures to prove that drivers around the world abandon expensive cars when they have had enough of the vehicles. Enjoy the article and like always be sure to share it with a friend. Let's get started.
19 Rolls Royce Ghost
While many car owners in Dubai have abandoned vehicles at airports and parking lots, some drivers in India have caught on to the epidemic. An owner of a Rolls Royce Ghost didn't want to deal with the vehicle anymore, so the driver thought the best solution was to abandon the vehicle.
Maybe, the better option would have been to sell the vehicle, not to take it for granted by dumping it on the side of the road. Considering Rolls Royce takes six months to build one car by hand, drivers should show the automaker respect by looking after the vehicles.
18 Lamborghini Murcielago
While most of us are dreaming about owning a magnificent vehicle such as the Murcielago, some drivers don't have a problem with leaving the car to rot. Not only did the owner abandon the Murcielago, but the driver also left behind a Jaguar XK.
The owner of the Murcielago was fortunate to own a vehicle that boasted a 6.2-liter V12 engine, pumping out 641 horsepower and needing 3.4 seconds to reach 0 to 60 mph, as well as a top speed of 205 mph. Lamborghini built just over 4,000 units of the Murcielago before ceasing the production in 2010.
17 Rolls Royce Phantom
Considering that a Phantom costs in the north of $400,000, one would think that owners of the prestigious car would do everything in their power to look after the vehicle. It seems that some drivers could be less phased by owning a Phantom. Although the car has a bulky frame, consumers who purchase the Phantom shouldn't be surprised to experience performance, as the bonnet boasts a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 engine, capable of pumping out 453 horsepower.
The car is phenomenal, and anybody would be fortunate to own such a majestic vehicle, regardless of how much money they have.
16 Aston Martin Vantage
Well, James Bond would not be happy to see one of his vehicles parked in a field. During the unveiling of the vehicle to snap the picture of the abandoned vehicle, the people who discovered the vehicle saw that the car was missing the Aston Martin emblem and license plates.
Aston Martin began the production of the Vantage in 2005 with a V8 engine but changed to a V12 from 2009. Although the model was popular amongst sportscar enthusiasts, Aston Martin discontinued the Vantage in 2018. The car's design was lavish while the interior was plush.
15 Bentley Continental
Many celebrities have chosen a Bentley as their preferred luxury vehicle. The car is elegant and provides ample space in the cabin while the driver can step on the pedal to get good performance from the vehicle. Under the bonnet is a 6-liter W12 engine that is capable of pumping out 626 horsepower for consumers who opt for the twin-turbo option.
Consumers who want luxury and speed should opt for the Continental, as it needs only 3.7 seconds to reach 0 to 60mph. Although the Continental provides blistering speeds, the pictured one hasn't moved an inch in a long time.
14 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow
The British manufacturer produced the Silver Shadow from 1965 until 1980. During that period, Rolls Royce manufactured just over 30,000 units. Considering the car is an expensive, luxury vehicle, the automaker sold a lot of units. The car was available as a 2-door coupe or convertible, as well as a 4-door saloon. Consumers who want to own the Shadow will find the task of finding it to be arduous.
Owners of the car should take every precaution to ensure their car is in pristine condition, as collectors are vying for the vehicle. The Shadow is a keeper and deserves an owner who will appreciate it.
13 Lamborghini Countach
Demand for the Countach was limited, as Lamborghini produced just under 2,000 units during the sixteen-year production run. Italian design house Bertone pioneered and popularized the sharply angled 'Italian Wedge' design language. Lamborghini unveiled the prototype at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, as the Lamborghini LP500 concept car.
Although the car is more than forty years old, it looks stunning and is a classic. The owner of the pictured Countach should have held onto the car for dear life, as it could fetch for big money at auctions.
12 Maserati Gran Turismo
Who doesn't want to own drive a Maserati? It seems that one driver in India doesn't, as he abandoned the vehicle. According to Daily Hunt, the DRI seized the pictured Grand Turismo due to the owner having issues with paying the customs. The car has a 4.3-liter V8 engine that is capable of pumping out 400 horsepower.
One can't go wrong when purchasing a supercar from Italian manufacturers, and the Gran Turismo has proven that it can compete with cars such as the Huracan and the F430. Consumers who want to own a Gran Turismo S shouldn't be afraid of parting with $135,000.
11 Porsche 911 Carrera 2
Ask me which sports car drivers should opt for without breaking the bank, and I'll answer, "Porsche." The German manufacturer has found the right balance between performance, reliability, and price with all of its models. Dig into Porsche's history to find one of the best models that it had built, and the research will lead you to a 911 Carrera 2.
Apart from the elegant exterior, the cabin provides comfort while the engine pumps out a good performance. Finding a '90s Carrera 2 isn't the easiest task to achieve but is worth the effort, as the owner will be fortunate to own a classic.
10 Rolls Royce Silver Spur
A classic vehicle that collectors need to track down immediately is the Rolls Royce Silver Spur. Any collector who can't find a Silver Spur on the market can go to India to retrieve the abandoned Spur pictured. Some people don't seem to mind letting go of magnificent vehicles.
The Silver Spur is one of the best models that Rolls Royce produced. The Silver Spur was the first car to feature the retractable Spirit of Ecstasy. One of the owners didn't think that the car was great, so the driver parked the car at the back and let it accumulate dirt.
9 Range Rover
One of the SUVs that celebrities love is the Range Rover. The car has ample space in the cabin, provides good performance and has a unique design. One of the reasons that the Rover gained such prominence is due to celebrity purchases. Fans of celebrities saw their idols drive the car, so they had to purchase it.
The owner of this Rover wasn't too keen on the car, so the driver didn't bother with it anymore and left it to rot. It seems that some people have so much money that they can afford to leave cars such as Rovers on the side of the road.
8 BMW M760
Following the success of the 5-series, BMW wanted to create a bigger car that provided more luxury and performance. When the German manufacturer designed the 7-series, it discovered that it had the winning recipe but wanted to take the car to the next level. The M760 was the flagship model of the 7-series.
Drivers who are fortunate to own the vehicle will experience the 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12 that's capable of pumping out 602 horsepower. The car has a top speed 190 mph and needs only 3.4 seconds to reach 0 to 60 mph.
7 Audi A8
It seems that some places in Indian are designated for abandoning cars. Apart from an old Mercedes Benz at this site, an Audi A8 has dilapidated due to lack of care. German manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen have garnered a reputation for producing reliable vehicles that provide comfort. Audi had to live up to that reputation as well, so it manufactured a full-size, luxury sedan that was a mass production vehicle with an aluminum chassis.
The car provides reliability, performance, and comfort. Consumers who want the 2019 model should be prepared to pay $84,000.
6 Ford Mustang
Who would've thought that one would discover a classic Ford Mustang on the other side of the world? The U.S. manufacturer has impressed the market with one of the best muscle cars to grace the roads - Mustang. Not only has a driver in India purchased a Mustang, but he or she opted for a classic.
Considering the car has been in production for over half a century, Ford must have done something right with the vehicle. The automaker did plenty of things right during the production of a car that received credit for inspiring designs such as the Toyota Celica and Ford Capri.
5 Jaguar XF
In my opinion, one of the car manufacturers that doesn't get enough credit is Jaguar. The British manufacturer has produced numerous vehicles that could compete with the best models on the market, but it has failed to win the hearts of the majority of the market. One of the abandoned Jaguars discovered in India was an XF.
Consumers who want to feel luxury and space while experiencing good performance should test drive the XF. The base price of the XF is $50,000, but the car provides numerous features to ensure that the driver gets their money's worth.
4 Mercedes Benz S-Class
Drivers who don't want to spend money on a Maybach or a Rolls Royce to get luxury can opt for a Mercedes S-Class. Although the S-Class doesn't match the luxury of a Maybach or a Phantom, it provides enough luxury for the price that consumers pay.
An owner in India wasn't impressed by the luxury that the car provided and decided to ditch the ride. Apart from the cabin that provides comfort and luxury, the bonnet boasts an engine that is in it for the long haul. Most S-Class owners are thrilled with their vehicles, as the car provides a comfortable ride and plenty of performance.
3 Nissan GT-R R34
Nissan started producing the GT-R in 1969 but ceased the production in 1973 and decided to resurrect the model in 1989 and continued the production until 2002. The car has enjoyed success in touring car racing. Although the GT-R experienced a 16-year hiatus, when the manufacturer revived the model, it won the JTCC Group A Series championship for four consecutive years.
The impressive technology and performance of the GT-R prompted the motoring publication Wheels to dub the car Godzilla. The car is a classic that owners should preserve.
2 Hummer H2
The U.S. manufactured vehicles are all over the world. Rappers had Hummers in their music videos, prompting other celebrities and average folks to purchase the car. Once drivers discovered that the car was impractical, as it did not fit into a single lane or a parking bay, the novelty of owning one had worn off.
What made the Hummer more unattractive was the fuel consumption and unreliability. Hummer drivers spent exorbitant amounts at the gas station and the repair shop. Once drivers saw that the Hummer wasn't all that it rappers made it out to be, they turned their back on the brand.
1 Toyota Land Cruiser
The manufacturer managed to penetrate the US market and prove that it sells reliable cars. Most Toyota owners praise the cars for great fuel efficiency and reliability. That is one of the reasons that Toyota is one of the best selling brands around the world. When Toyota decided to make a great off-road vehicle, the designers produced a Land Cruiser.
The car has been in production for more than sixty years. The Land Cruiser is one of Toyota's most well-known models and provides everything a driver could ask from a vehicle, especially an SUV.
