This Ferrari Daytona sold for $2.16 million at a Ferrari-only auction.

German automakers are among the best in the world. Unlike their British or Italian counterparts, German carmakers have released some truly sporty cars that would not completely break the bank. Out of all of them, Porsche stands out as the more high-class German sports carmaker. One of its legendary models, the 356, is a true classic.

This 356 was found at the bottom of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland. It is safe to say that restoring this once beautiful car will require some serious skills and dedication.

3 Maserati 5000 GT

Most people think about Lamborghini and Ferrari if asked about classic Italian cars. In fact, Maserati was founded before Lamborghini. While Lamborghini was establishing itself as a serious supercar manufacturer, Maserati was already known as a luxury automaker. Consequently, it is possible to find some classic Maserati cars here and there.

This Maserati 5000 GT was found rotting away in Saudi Arabia. The car is in dire condition, and only a mad gearhead with the equivalent of some countries' GDP in their bank account would think about restoring such a classic car. Despite its condition, the car sold for $1.07 million at auction.

2 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow

There is something very peculiar about luxury British cars. Unlike their German or Italian counterparts, British cars tend to look classy, and not sporty. Though several high-end Bentleys or Rolls-Royces produce as much power as high-end AMG-Series cars, they look like they belong in front of a five-star hotel.

Rolls-Royces are known for being among the most elegant cars in the world. Surprisingly enough, they are very common in failing nations as dictators tend to use the country's revenues as their monthly allowance. This particular Silver Shadow was not abandoned in a god-forsaken country. Instead, It has been rotting away in some British countryside.

1 Alpine A110

The French are very skilled at cooking delicious meals. However, when it comes to car-making, it's as if they were incapable of producing anything respectable. That being said, the French have produced a few decent vehicles that were well-adapted to hillclimbing and World Rally Championship racing.

The Alpine A110 is one of the rare classic French cars that is actually worth something. Though its engine is not the most popular ever made, the A110 is quite interesting given its small size and low weight. This A110 made it all the way to Japan, but unfortunately was left to die slowly in someone's garage.
