Pininfarina’s Insanely Powerful Battista Teased Before Geneva Unveiling

Pininfarina is teasing their upcoming electric hypercar ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut.

Former Italian design house turned electric carmaker Pininfarina has been hard at work on their debut concept car for a while now. We’ve been getting periodic teasers all throughout 2018, and it looks like the Italian company owned by an Indian car conglomerate is going to send us into 2019 with yet another teaser.

Their first electric car will be a hypercar of the highest order. We previously knew it as the PF0, but Pininfarina announced on their Instagram that the car would instead be named the Battista after the company’s founder, Battista "Pinin" Farina.

The pic is a pretty standard “under a tarp” teaser that doesn’t give us a whole lot to go on. What we see is a low-slung sports car that has wide, prominent fenders and a very low roofline judging by how far the side mirrors jut out. The nose looks a lot like the Ferrari 488 judging by the lines, but the hood seems to have a prominent crease in the middle that differs it from the Italian supercar.

What we know of the Battista comes from earlier announcements. The car will be powered by a Rimac-supplied electric powertrain that produces 1,900 hp and 1,695 lb-ft of torque. Zero to sixty is expected to be done in under 2 seconds with a top speed of over 250 mph.

Range will be over the 300-mile mark, which isn’t all that impressive when rival electric carmakers are pushing the 400-mile barrier currently.

We also know the Battista won’t be cheap. Pricing is expected to top $2 million, with the final price probably being closer to $2.5 million. Only 150 cars will be produced, and a third of the production run will go to just three regions: USA, Europe, and the Middle East. Not sure what Pininfarina has against Asia, especially considering China’s push towards electric cars, but we’re not in charge of a multi-million dollar Italian carmaker.
