Maserati is a brand that is very much attempting to go through a revival at the moment. The Italian company has had some rather tough years in the modern era, but looks to change that following the launch of the Maserati MC20, its first true supercar in many years. It's also going electric too, with the Folgore version of its incredible Gran Turismo, and we recently saw the Maserati GranCabrio prototype out on test as it too prepares for an electric future.

One of the latest additions to the Maserati lineup is its new Grecale. This is the Italian brand’s first ever SUV, and it is a big step for the company, as many of its rivals like Ferrari and Lamborghini are also now in the SUV game. Maserati has decided that the Grecale is the perfect car for a partnership with Mattel Inc, specifically a partnership with Barbie. The two companies have come together and unveiled a special Barbie Maserati Greacle, the Maserati SUV now in the iconic pink of the famous doll, and will be part of an ultra-exclusive Fuoriserie edition.

Maserati has stated that this ultra-limited edition will be available in just two custom units globally. One was recently unveiled at the 2022 Neiman Marcus Fantasy Gifts. This is a US exclusive bespoke edition of the car, and part of the sales price will in fact go on to benefit the Barbie Dream Gap Project. This is an ongoing global imitative from the Barbie brand that partners with charities to help remove barriers for girls and provide equal opportunities for them around the globe. Maserati will announce details of the second custom car in 2023.

Maserati has said that the car is a work of art, and it comes thanks to the brand's Fuoriseries customization program, hence it being a Fuoriserie edition of the Grecale. The program allows Maserati lovers and car lovers as a whole to really express that love and passion, with the creation of their ultimate Italian luxury car. This is all done according to the individual's style and taste. This pink version of the Grecale though is one of the most outlandish and outgoing creations to ever come from the Fuoriserie program, and one of the most exclusive too.

Maserati says that the exterior of the SUV is all adorned with the Barbie logo, seen in the images of the SUV. The exterior of the SUV is also sealed with an iridescent topcoat that then reveals a rather incredible rainbow effect on a beautiful sunny day. Inside the SUV is a sleek black interior, featuring full-leather seats, dashboards, carpets and doors. These are all accented with pink stitching to really give out the Barbie vibe. Branded headrests inside the SUV are also adorned with the unique B badge, to remind you that this is the Barbie edition.

This particular special edition of the Grecale is in fact based upon the Trofeo version of the SUV, the higher performance level. Maserati says that the SUV exudes pure adrenaline, thanks to the powerful 530 hp V6 Nettuno engine. The Trofeo model is the flagship in the Grecale range, and that 530 hp is also backed up with 457 lb-ft of torque. The SUV also has an eight-speed automatic transmission, and of course being an SUV it is all-wheel drive. The engine is also a twin-turbo affair, a step up from the introductory model in the range with its 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine.

The Grecale Is One Of Maserati’s Most Luxurious Cars

The Grecale itself is one of the most luxurious cars in the current Maserati lineup, even without the special Barbie edition. The interior of the Grecale certainly eclipses that of the Ghibli and the Levante in the range, with the full leather interiors and a lack of hard plastic a very welcome feature indeed. The seats are as you expect incredibly comfortable, and the infotainment system features a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with the addition of an 8.8-inch lower screen that helps to take on the HVAC functions for the car.

With just two examples of the Barbie Edition set to get made, this is set to be one of the most exclusive and limited editions of a Maserati in the company’s long history. The images from Maserati every much show off the car in all its glory, with the bright pink color and the yellow accenting around places such as the front of the car and the back around the exhaust area. More details will be forthcoming in 2023 regarding the second example of the car, and both will no doubt get sold for some rather large figures.
