"Porsche, there is no substitute," remarked a very young and cocky Tom Cruise in the 1983 movie Risky Business. A new generation of gearheads have now grown up ever since the movie was released, all also worshiping this famous, legendary car brand. Let’s face it, every teenage kid dreams about driving a Porsche as a first car, but most probably ends up with a very safe and dull Toyota Corolla or Honda Accord.

Ever since Tom Cruise charmed us with his driving skills in the 1983 movie, Porsche has since released some of its most incredible cars, such as the Porsche 956, Porsche 964 Carrera RS, and the Porsche 918 Spyder. Another example of these incredible models is the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, and it holds a special place in our hearts.

However, it seems like we aren’t the only ones who love this dominant machine that costs a whopping $620,000 since Porsche has already sold out all 30 units that were produced. That said, here is what makes this Porsche model an engineering masterpiece, and we also highlight the top reasons why we love it.

“The new 911 GT2 RS Clubsport is the most powerful, non-street legal, GT customer sports car we've ever built,” says Porsche Motorsport. And they are right, despite the incredible 911 models that came before, this celebratory model is one for the books. Designed to celebrate 25 years of Porsche Motorsport and Manthey-Racing's alliance, the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 is an ode to the Nürburgring overall winner, the 911 GT3 R racer aka the ‘Grello.’

“Porsche Motorsport and Manthey have won many races and championships since the team was founded 25 years ago – for example seven times the 24 hours at the Nürburging," says Matthias Scholz, Director GT Racing Cars. "Since 2013 the two companies have been closely affiliated. With the unique special edition 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25, this successful partnership has moved to the next level.”

Under the hood, the limited edition 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine that generates 690 horsepower. The engine is matched to a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch automatic transmission. A feature typical of race cars found on the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 is the adjustable racing suspension. Furthermore, the celebratory vehicle has Porsche's Stability Management (PSM) system.

As one would expect from a Porsche vehicle, the aerodynamics is outstanding. The design, strongly influenced by the Porsche 911 GT3 R, offers certain conveniences, but many of the aspects from the older model have been revamped. For instance, Porsche placed the radiator in a new position, while they remodeled the front apron with a central inlet to optimize air flow. Meanwhile, the double-layered flicks on the outer sides are like the ones used for the 911 GT3 R racer.

Although this is a racing super car, Porsche always prioritized safety; thus, FIA standards and the latest safety requirements are respected. But there are other James Bond-like features, such as the removable escape hatch in the CFRP roof.

Also, worth noting, the carbon-fiber bodywork makes the model lighter. It is estimated that the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 will weigh roughly 1390 kg (3,064 lbs).

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 Has High-End Design That Screams Exclusivity

Retailed at an MRSP of $620,000, the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 is not for everyone. But even if money wasn’t an issue, the limited series sure is. As mentioned above, only 30 units are being offered with six of those destined for American buyers, but all units are already gone, so it is safe to say that Porsche’s exclusivity strategy clearly works.

As one would expect from such a glorious vehicle, the cabin is plush and comfortable, and it comes equipped with Recaro racing seats with fore/aft adjustment and customizable padding system. The most interesting styling elements are on the exterior, where the paint scheme is the first thing that stands out.

The Manthey color "Grello" is employed as an accent shade that shows once again the collaborative relationship between Porsche Motorsport and Manthey. Meanwhile, other design elements recall former Porsche models, which have a strong racing history. For example, Porsche points out the "particularly wide rear spoiler extends into the body, just like on the modern 935." But not everything is "old" and borrowed, and the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 also has new elements, such as the redesigned exhaust system.

Overall, this is a car that will delight the generations of Porsche aficionados who care more about the racing history of the brand and its past performances on the Nürburgring circuit. Too bad Porsche has decided to limit production to 30 units.
