The year 2020 will, hopefully, be behind us soon. But as the third decade of the 21st century begins, it's safe to look back on the past and see how far humanity has come. Whether or not the increased globalization has actually proved itself as a benefit remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that computers and technology have changed the way humans live today.

Look no further than the current crop of automobiles on the market, which range from fully electric hypercars to internal-combustion classics being revamped and restored with knowledge and parts bought from China on the internet. Even owners of vintage classics crave a bit of modernity in their rides—and manufacturers are steadily recognizing this fact, as proven by Porsche's recent release of a new lineup of technologically advanced radios for the company's classic cars.

Of course, aftermarket companies have been building single and double-DIN stereos with Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto for years now—but they each seem to turn out uglier than the last. There certainly isn't a brand on the market that could fit well into a 1960s Porsche 911 dashboard, so Porsche Classic has jumped in to fill that market void with some tasteful yet advanced radio systems.

Nestled into the dashboard of a classic 911, the touchscreen looks just right with analog dials flanking it. These products are available all the way up to the 996 generation, which went out of production in 2005 and still hilariously fits into the classic category, according to Stuttgart. The 996 shipped with an optional double-DIN system featuring navigation, so this upgrade just makes it better (and anything that works for a 996 typically works for a 997, too). But the real seller here will, no doubt, be for older 911 owners who crave a bit of connectivity to go with their air-cooled, raspy soundtrack.
