The new and improved Porsche Macan has arrived with a new set of tail and headlights.

More news on the luxury crossover SUV front as we get our first look at the 2019 Porsche Macan recently unveiled in Shanghai. China is all about luxury crossovers, and so many of the biggest carmakers in the world are reserving their 2019 debuts of crossovers specifically to wow potential Chinese buyers.

For the 2019 mid-cycle refresh, the Macan is getting a new front fascia, new rear tail LED strip and a completely redesigned interior thanks to a big new touchscreen. Bigger is better, as they say in the car world.

Let’s start with the front end. Although the new fascia bears a resemblance to the outgoing one, everything is new. There’s a new grille, new bumper, new side air inlets, the turn signals are now lower down on said air inlets, and the piece du resistance, new LED headlights. Porsche will even give you adaptive LED headlights for an additional fee.

Out back is a new LED strip that stretches from one tail light to the other in keeping with Porsche’s new style of rear lighting. There’s also a set of new 20 and 21 inch wheels (20 in the front, 21 in the back), and new exterior color options in “Miami Blue”, “Mamba Green Metallic” “Dolomite Silver Metallic,” and “Crayon,” which is just a fancier way of saying matte gray.

But it’s on the inside where most of the magic has happened. Thanks to a new 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the Macan’s vents have been completely repositioned, and once they get repositioned you might as well redesign them too. So Porsche did that.

There’s also an available GT sport steering wheel taken from the 911.

Tech is a big deal for Porsche nowadays, so every Macan is fully connected to the Porsche cloud. There’s also a new adaptive cruise control with stop and go that also takes care of the steering in traffic jams. Take that, Mercedes.

With 350,000 units sold since its introduction, the Macan is a big success for Porsche. Let’s hope they use those sales to make yet more versions of the 911 that harken back to ‘60s and ‘70s. Oh, and make ridiculously fast hypercars that can lap the Nurburgring faster than anything on four wheels.
