When automotive graphic designer Shashank Das dreams, he dreams big. And when he's in blue-sky mode, Das comes up with some stunning renderings of supercars and luxury automobiles that tends to take the look of the real things to the next level. He's already received raves over his treatment of the otherwise clean exterior of the Honda S2000, the lightweight McLaren 765LT, and the newly minted Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4. Das posted on Instagram his latest dream rendering, this time of the Porsche 993 GT2 Evo. And once again, his loyal followers eagerly responded with their opinions.

Last Of The Air-Cooled Porsches

Das chose a real class in that Porsches with a 993 designation marked the last time the automaker would create air-cooled engines. That and the fact that this particular Porsche was on the assembly line for only a few years during the 1990s also makes this a fave acquisition among serious car collectors.

The GT2 variation of the Porsche 993 also included a 3.6-liter, six-cylinder engine capable of delivering up to 400 hp as well as twin turbos. It also had a light aluminum chassis that made it easier to handle. But its design is what was deceptive, with a very street-legal appearance and the ability to be competitive on high-speed tracks.

It was also that design that might have enticed Das to make a few radical changes since, like most Porsches, it retained a rather frumpy look thanks to its wide-eyed headlights and sloping hood. To add a bit of aggression to its appearance, he added a rather tough-looking skirt under the grille with a heavy emphasis on air intakes. He also enlarged the rear spoiler to demonstrate that this Porsche was ready to get mean on the streets.

"I like to keep it authentic to an original style but add some extra bits of my taste," wrote Das in the post's accompanying text. "This RWB 993 EVO features a twin 992 design tail lamp and also 992 headlamps. The color is based off the Porsche Chalk Grey, but has a slightly cooler hue."

After two days, Das—who has more than 21,000 followers—received more than 6,000 likes. "I think I'm in love," wrote one fan. "No way I thought this was a render," chimed in another supporter. For sure, Das read his audience well when he initially thought he was onto a good thing here.
