When Porsche set out to make the Taycan from becoming a dream to reality; performance, connectivity, and usability had to be a part of the recipe - and despite not having a flat-six, it was Porsche's job to ensure it did not become boring!

We like how the production car looks so similar to the Mission E concept - when car manufacturers do this, it excites customers, because - let's face it - nobody wants to look at their car and yawn. Even in terms of driving dynamics, this is not a car that will disappoint.

There's a Taycan for everyone out there: Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan GTS, Taycan Turbo, and the ultimate Taycan Turbo S. With a range of high-performance models to choose from, the Taycan is one of the most powerful production models in the Porsche range.

The Taycan has taken the world by storm - and it's got praises from not only journalists but buyers all over the globe as well. Although there are some equally competitive cars like the Audi e-Tron RS GT and the Tesla Model S, the Taycan simply raises the bar further.

It has become a cut-throat segment, with manufacturers fighting tooth and nail to better one another. The Taycan makes 522hp, and this is on models not wearing the Turbo badge. Watching the Taycan sprint from a standstill is immensely satisfying, and what's more, it can lap a circuit just as quickly as any supercar out there, or maybe even quicker.

The Taycan EV is aimed at one buyer: the sort that likes going fast, without compromising on safety and practicality. The whole idea was to make a Porsche that felt like a Porsche, even if it didn't sound like one. The fact it's selling in more numbers than the 911 and Panamera makes it an interesting, tree-hugging proposition. Maybe that's why Bill Gates drives one too.

Porsche Taycan Looks Futuristic And Beautiful

The Taycan is a thing of beauty: it's low and wide, and the bonnet slopes downwards linearly. The front fenders are prominent, and the LED headlights look like they're floating. The four-point DRLs are recent signature design elements but seem wider.

The cooling air intake controls the air supply for the air-conditioning systems and the brakes as well. How the roof slopes down steeply is typical of a sportscar. You can also request a huge, fixed glass panoramic roof if you'd like.

The rest of the profile is delicately sculpted; the flat door handles are flush with the doors, and there are multiple wheel options to choose from. The width of the rear cannot go unnoticed either, and the illuminated narrow bar that spans the entire width of the car looks awesome, particularly in the dark.

There's the Porsche logo that's made of three-dimensionally shaped glass letters, and the registration plate sits low down. Then there's the typical rear spoiler which extends in three stages, depending on the speed you're doing.

The simple dashboard is not the kind of simple that is boring; it is attractive and draws inspiration from the original 911 in the '60s. It is a driver-focused cabin; the instrument panel looks minimalist and modern. The controls, like today's smartphones, are effortless to use. The curved instrument cluster is an art and comprises a 16.8-inch curved display. The driver can choose between four display modes for the instrument cluster.

The steering wheel looks light, feels well-made, and can be had in two versions: a multifunction sports steering wheel in leather or the GT Race-Tex multifunction sports steering. The latter looks unique with screw heads visible and features a round Porsche Drive Mode switch. Related: This Is Why We Love The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo

Porsche Taycan Packs Exhilarating Performance

We drove the Taycan Turbo earlier this year, and once the highway opened up, we floored the throttle in Sport Plus mode. The rush of torque was instantaneous - and it might seem scary to someone not accustomed to driving so fast.

You get pushed back into the seat, and see triple digits appear on the speedometer, in seconds - that's how quick it is. We also drove the Taycan 4S earlier, but the 670hp Taycan Turbo felt a lot more brutal in terms of acceleration. The promptness with which it responds to throttle inputs is quite addictive actually - and would require you to be alert at the same time.

So it's not just the looks and the acceleration, but the ride that impresses as well - and we'd have to give the adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management credit for that. It's a great car to drive and can seat up to four passengers, as we reported in April this year, so it's honestly hard to find fault with what is truly the future, being experienced today - and if this is what EVs feel like, sign us up for the upcoming generation!
